Alienmum
I have a 13 year old daughter with ASD. She would love to make new friends but finds it very difficult, especially now she's a teenager. I'm also feeling isolated as although I know people with boys on the spectrum, they tend to present with very different issues to girls.I was wondering if there were any other parents in the area who are in a similar situation. We could meet up informally for a coffee to start with and perhaps manufacture some social situations for our daughters! Please PM me if you're interested Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/74552-teenage-girls-on-autistic-spectrum/ Share on other sites
Mugglesworth
I hope that you find some people with similar circumstances Alienmum. It can't be an easy situation without a support network. Alienmum
Thanks Mugglesworth. Can be a bit isolated as difficult to understand unless you're in a similar situation. Would love to share experiences with parents of girls of any age, not just teenagers. Anybody out there?! hpsaucey
Hi Alienmum - I have an ASD son, but am sending you a PM link to a local group for ASD girls (parents/daughters) which might be worth trying. They're based just across in Lewisham. Settledinmyways
Hello Alienmum, this is probably the same group hpsaucey mentioned, but Burgess Autistic Trust have a social group for girls, on Wednesday evenings this term I think. My now 17 year old daughter thought about going last year but decided against it as the other girls were young teens - but that might suit your daughter well...Is there anything for her at school? My daughter is setting up a group for girls with social anxiety at her school, and the school have been really receptive and supportive of the idea.
