Morning all,

I was another victim of South London crime on Saturday. My scooter was stolen from Tyrrell Road on Saturday night.

I reported to police the following day and within 2 hours they called me back saying that they had found it in the car park on Peckham Rye Common,SOuthwark community in action!

It has quite a bit of damage but glad I found it. It's Vespa LX so no way of starting it without the key, just frustrated that it'll cost hard earned cash to fix!

If you saw any kids rolling a scooter in the Tyrrell Road, Barry Road or Peckham Rye Common area then please let me know.

When I find them, which I will (great finger prints) the damage will be worth it!

Many thanks.

Get over it ( then get even)

I did have one once, it got stolen/recovered 3 times.

18 months or so later I saw the " problem child " now with own his own pride & joy scooter in the garage at Kirkdale.

Slipped the old Volvo into reverse by accident.....well guess the rest !

Have you ever seen a bike do a reverse wheelie off the stand in your rear view ?

(It did look good on the deck with him crying over his little ped.)

Nonsense. Do you think the victims of the Lockerbie bombers feel this way?

I had my little bike run over once by a short woman in a big 4x4. She claimed she could not see it as it was parked behind her car as she reversed. I told her her child was smaller than my bike and to buy a special attachment for her car available at all John Lewis stores: a CUSHION. The look on her face was priceless. Her insurance paid the damage and I wrote and told them they should not be insuring people to drive their cars who can not technically drive it safely. That gave me some satisfaction, but (safe) revenge stories are better to read!

No

Not even if the guy responsible got a million years and suffered a thousand of those, but by measure in ayresc's original story no one died, his scooter was merely stolen so the response by Block was "appropriate" I thought.

not sure how we got on to Lockerbie?!

Anyhow losing my scooter isn't the end of the world but societal pressure and the laws that govern the land should condition the way we behave. If they'd have found my kids that stole my scooter that night, you can guarantee there'd be a measily ?100 fine involved...

Then on Monday I got a ?120 fine for parking my car on a curb in Brixton, I had to laugh. Although in all seriousness if you believe in 'structuralism' this country is pretty screwed!

Anyhow I got my scooter back and fixed it for not a lot, unlike Lockerbie! :)

    • Simply, give us a snap election now as the last 12 months in office honestly have not been great in any sense. Let someone else have a go at turning around UK plc before it's too late. At least the last administration had the inflation and unemployment going in the right direction at the END.
    • Yes but what's the answer, Jazzer? No government can simply walk in and fix the economy - get the bills down, grow it and reduce debt. There is no silver bullet. The public (and the press) wants everything now, everything cheaper, but with better public services and lower taxes.  In the radio and paper, all you ever hear is pundits, MPs, think tanks and economists saying what won't work, but no one seems to know what will work.  I'm genuinely interested to hear what other views people have on here, and what they think will help, or make things worse.
    • While they struggle with economics of UK plc, collectively we all suffer as a result of their ineptitude.
    • I’ve tried to find details of surgeries being held before but not found any. The section of the Southwark website that details councillors’ surgeries says that: Your locally elected Councillors will be holding a roving surgery programme in the Dulwich Hill area to enable residents to raise any local issues. Residents will be notified by letter in advance of the date, time and specific streets/roads where the surgery will take place.  Surgeries are not held in August, on Bank Holidays, Easter or in Christmas Week.  Dulwich Hill Ward Councillors I’ve never seen any notification of surgeries being held, including on the DH councillors’ social media accounts. I don’t know if any other residents of Dulwich Hill have? Neighbouring wards all seem to have times and places posted for surgeries.
