  1. apparently these are legal and will scare the crap out opf anyone, just remember to disarm when you take your cover off! http://www.solwayfeeders.com/products/alarm-mine-p1636-c452.html
  2. Almax is the chain, nothing else will do. expensive but cheaper than your excess.
  3. I'm also shocked that everyone isn't fully supportive of these two. We're the envy of the world, 2 billion people will watch on Friday and wonder why some of us can be so anti. Ratty if you took the time to understand what they do for society in the UK and further afield through their various causes and the voice they give underpriveleged people you'd soon get back in your cage. Our society needs young, positive role models. I can't think of any better candidates versus the vacuous celebrities that have been pimped over OK and Hello in recent years. It's a feel good factor the nation desperatley needs, so chin up and stop whining.
  4. Sounds like a great idea, anything to promote good road users vs bad ones. I'd like to also see some 'incentive' for the minority of pedestrians who cross the road in front my bike with their iPod in or chatting on the phone. In the states it's called jay walking and the more I cycle/ride/drive in London the more i think we could do with something similiar. At the end of the day there's a limit how responsible drivers can be before pedestrians have to start taking more care themselves crossing the road etc. When we not on wheels we're all pedestrians and probably guilty of the above at some point!
  5. Thanks for your advice, very helpful. I'll have a look into it...
  6. Cheers, I'm with Orange but I think they ultimately use the same BT phone line to supply broadband. They all seem to have poor service, yet currently I'm getting poor service and dire connection speed. Is the Virgin speed that much better and doesn't anyone else have slow speeds on BT?
  7. Just wondering if anyone has experience of both of the above? Also has BT Broadband been incredibly slow over the last 3-6 months? After several painful calls to India I just can't deal with them anymore, I can't even watch iPlayer! My speed here is crazily slow, after a check on www.speedtest.net I'm running at 0.48 MB, which even in the Highlands would be slower than slow. Is Virgin's call centre UK based?
  8. this really takes the piss, what is this, Compton?! frequency of knife and firearm incidents are really on the increase, maybe not in absolute terms but no spilling over into areas that are regarded as less 'front line'. lets hope they can crack down sharpish. glad no one was hurt at least, this time.
  9. very helpful, would also be good to know what operating hours come under their terms of business.
  10. ?3000. That's kind of irrelevant. I think this point is less about 'rights' and more about common courtesy and understanding your neighbours. I was more than happy with their setup before the change in tennants but now its a bit of a piss take. Glad you said something as saying nothing is basically assuming that what he's doing is fine. Just f's me off when you see the space they have on site.
  11. i live near said problem and its become a problem since the new tenants moved into the commercial premise. I wouldn't mind but if you look at Google Earth there's significant space to park vehicles on their land yet they park massive (and a mean massive) vehicles on the street, leaving little space to park. Strictly its not illegal, just a 'little' inconsiderate. His rates will be less than my council tax and only have one car, not 7 battered commercials. This isn't the only problem with this unit. Prior (2008) they operated 9-5 Mon-Fri and now they open 7 days a week and until late up to 11 and their lights are on until 3AM. There must be terms to their commercial usage, for opening hours?
  12. cool thanks, just wanted to see how close there were to each other. It goes with out saying that 1 or 2 d-locks are a must in London plus a cover, out of sight out of mind etc... I'm about to get a CBR600 and mega anxiuos about it getting nicked. Ask your neighbours to stay vigilant, ours are always on the look out for bad'uns as our road is well populated with bikes/scooters. It may be worth buying a dummy CCTV camera that looks down the road on a neutral bit of property, only ?15-20. Safe riding.
  13. sorry to hear about that mate. About time someone went scrote bashing.
  14. fixed gear up Denmark Hill, really? Impressive.
  15. apologies. Just highlighting how so many businesses waste money on staff that don't do a lot.
  16. ...and some people wonder why businesses are making cuts without impacting the customer experience?!
  17. East Dulwich is a prime target especially near Peckham borders because of its MOSIAC profile which is a bit out of date. It basically profiles the area as having a high index of people on benefits hence door to door is massively effective. Irrelevant of socio-profile, it's bang out of order.
  18. Last night an NPower rep came round to my flat, without opening the door I asked who he was etc. He said he was from 'the gas and electricity company, here to talk about my meter readings'. Hence I opened the door (in darkness) and he then started to plug NPower... cheeky tw?t. I'll told him to scarper, sharpish. I know that because of the postcode profile of the area we'll get inundated with door to door sales people but (essentially) lying like that to get me to open the door to him is way out of order. Anyone else have any similiar visits last night near Barry Road/PR?
  19. A great deabate, however lots of poeple that know little about dogs. Our family Jack Russell has killed 4 sheep and used to regularly hang off strangers ankles (yes a nightmare I know!) and he was under the suggested weight. On the contrast our Mastiff is 70 KGS and would only get aggro to protect my Mum. The fact is, owners should be held responsible, irrelevant of breed (bar a few). You only need to look at how many people (predomenantly chavs) wind their dogs up which is one way of getting them frenzied. That do that attacked should been reported to the polcie imemdiatley and delat with as an individual case instead of calling for clanket rules for 99% of responsible dogs and owners.
  20. Sunday is definately a winner and making it more pedestrian friendly would work well. I went to London Fields last week which is the best food market I've been to (better than Borough) with great stalls but easy to walk around... we need an equivilant in ED. We must also protect local businesses on North Cross Rd too, many suffer as parking is limited on Saturdays as is the case for the pet shop.
  21. BT are a nightmare. I've been with them for 3 years and my internet connection over teh last 3 montsh has got worse and worse, it just keeps cutting off more and more frequently. I'm not even getting a tone on the phone line. Phoning BT techincal support is so frustrating, based in India but give themsleves English names, priceless. Howver they're sending an engineer round to sort the problem out but you DO NOT GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!
  22. I'm from a farming family so maybe the wrong place to have the debate! I love animals to bits but these guys are real pests, they don't eat worms or rats, just look at the rubbish they've got to feed on. Maintaining balance in any environment is fairly critical but in London we're really exposed to it a whole load. Sure someone in the council is trying to sort it and no doubt the intro of wheelie bins has helped.
