Hello,

We moved to East Dulwich last year and we are very happy. We are in the process of applying for a school place for our son and wondered if people with the children at either school could shed some light on how they feel about them; how happy their children are/standards of teaching etc.? Would be very helpful to hear from parents who had chosen between these two school specifically. Goodrich looks like a very creative school with beautiful art work adorning the walls which is a real draw for us but we are still very open minded about either.

Any opinions or advice would be gratefully received. Look forward to hearing from you.

It will really come down to you - do you want a religion based primary experience, or a non-denominational one? Both are good schools with different underlying principles.

For Goodrich you need to live very close by, for St Anthony's I believe you need a pretty rock solid base of church attendance.

My three children are all very happy at Goodrich, but as we have no experience of St A's it's impossible to compare the two schools. As we aren't religious I didn't even consider putting it as an option when we first had to apply for school places for our eldest child, so haven't been inside the school.

If both really are options, I suggest attending their respective winter fairs and any other events that are open to,the public, to get a feel for whether the school is right for your child/family.

Hi

I'm guessing you've looked into the catholicity requirements for St anthony's ? Weekly church attendance (and where you attend counts) your child needs to have been baptised etc - there's quite a few and as the school is oversubscribed it's pretty tight. Might be useful to ask the school so you don't waste your time...

    • How come you are always there when these things happen?! 🤣
    • It certainly is! no surprise though with the wet wipes that have been running (down) our country over the last 30+ years.
    • Lost morning of 5th November between Archdale Road  and Denmark Hill station via Lordship Lane.
    • Was planning to come on here to ask if anyone might know which celeb/royal came through Lordship Lane yesterday - was on my way up to Spurs, on bus at the roundabout by the EDT when some whistling police cyclists pulled the traffic to the side of the road to allow a biggish range rover to shoot past, on the way up towards Dog Kennel Hill. Could only make out two, maybe middle-aged, men in the front before it passed. Mildly hysterical lady on pavement was laughing/screeching with her friend that they were desperately trying to find out who it was. Had more reason to post after this lunchtime's experience. Had just got to bus stop opposite the M&S by the station when some mini cooper thing bombed through the traffic, swerving across to cut up another car to get up the hill, before two or three police cars followed about 20 seconds behind. Said mini cooper thing then reappeared coming the other way, beeping its horn to get other cars out the way before it bombed up what I think was Elsie Road, with police cars now on both sides of the road by Maxin trying to stop traffic getting in the way/half the speeding car. Bit more than I had bargained for when I set out/want in local area! Stay careful out there folks, this place is getting scarier...
