I can understand the sentiment from the member of staff, and am sure it was done in good faith, following alleged previous "incidents" involving other members of the public and people in uniform. However, such a suggestion shouldn't and wouldn't have to be made if we lived in a country where we actually had universal respect and admiration for the people who defend our rights and freedoms. It's part of a wider disgraceful PC culture which should not be allowed to overcome common sense and decency.

Louisa.

I'm with you there Jez. I'd invest in one too if it allowed me to be moved away from the various scumbags you find hogging A&E with their drink/drug/violence related problems, draining the system. But I agree with quids it's the diversity training which is at fault here, a total lack of common sense. When I was younger people would actively stop a car or bus etc to give a person in the armed forces thumbing a lift. The level of respect was immense, and now it appears that has flipped on its head.

Didn't realise defence cuts had hit so hard.

    • Maggie Browning a DH councillor recently had a baby and I believe plans to return to work. I think that to have the additional stress of  being a councillor, a new mother and having a job is a good reason for not standing again. Maggie was one of the few labour councillors who were approachable, acted on your behalf in regards to several concerns and appeared at various public events i.e Police SNT Meetings, community events etc. Have met one of the new prospective councillors and introduced her to various community based organisations.

    • Useful link, thanks. I see that neither of the Dulwich Hill councillors are standing again but one of the new Labour candidates for DH recently left the Lib Dems… The Greens are led by someone who left the Lib Dems and full of people who left Labour. Reform is full of those who left the Tories. And the Tories are full of those who left our planet some time ago. Confused? You will be!
