I've just told someone off (ever so politely) for running their car engine for more than half an hour parked outside my house. Noticed her many times before doing it for more than an hour, sometimes two hours. I had to do something.

The emissions and oh, the noise. Her reason (excuse): her toddler is asleep in the back of the car and it's a hot day.

I said, See my room up there. Do you know why the windows are open? There's a nice breeze blowing..

After a couple more exchanges, she drove off in a huff, saying, I won't park here again.

Look out for a dark grey VW (sorry can't remember model or number)coming to a street near you. Or even your street.

forgot to say she was running the engine for the air condition, or is that obvious.
