NO idea where I am supposed to put this thread.

I telephone USA and NZ a lot (relatives) and have used a company called Swiftcall since it started in 1993.

It's about to stop trading because of the competition but I have no idea which company to go with as such an easy to use replacement.

With Swiftcall I had an account and could call from any landline to any landline anywhere in the world and from anywhere in the world to back home. I want to be able to do the same with the same ease of use and cheapness.

Oh - please don't recommend BT's 'family and friends' system. I could indeed use that for one of my international numbers, and of course there's Skype which is fine for computers but I'm talking about travelling.

Recommendations welcome, please and thanks very much!

I know that One Tel is cheap for international calls, if calling from home, but wouldn't fulfill your requirements if you wanted access to it from anywhere in the world. Might be worth checking out their website in case I'm wrong about that bit.
Try 18185. Just google it and it will come up. You have to register your mobile with it, and can also use it for your home phone. You are only billed for each cal you make. I use it from home on my landline to call mobiles. They have different rates for calling some mobiles compared to some landlines. To the States it is .5 per minute. for either landline or mobile.

    • To be fair, a pot of tea for one in a department store is a small pot, and you only get one cup or mug!
    • I know - we have been here lots of times since it first opened,  which is why we were disappointed that it was closed at a time it was supposed to be open, but with no notice to say why! I guess we will just  have to ask the reason at our next visit, but I'm not sure we will risk Saturday lunchtime again unless we find the closure  was an unavoidable one off ....
    • Nope. I don’t have this wrong. I’ve tried to put my point across respectfully, without resorting to personal, angry insults. And all my colleagues agree that the BBC got this right in its condemnation.    All you see is confirmation bias.    If you don’t realise that, then you’re part of the problem.
    • We have always gone during the week at lunch time - great place and good value. Husband has been several times on his own and owner knows his first name. I could not go one time for some reason and she sent him home with some spring rolls (free)
