depends what kind of food you like, what kind of evening you are after and what you think constitutes a good dinner - any request for recommendations on here will usually elicit at least one response for every eatery on Lordship Lane - is there any poster whose opinion you value above others?

have a search for the word "restaurant" in the search bar on top left - that will bring up several threads along similar lines

My answer is usually

Indian? Tandoori Nights

Casual but decent? - Hizar

Quality? - Franklins (Palmerston not far behind)

Somwehere different and old school? - Moulin

Google doesn't give up a LOT of info about restaurants around here - Moulin for example may as well not exist based on google-evidence

Si Mangia is definitely local and I always wish them well, AND lots of people love it there. I find the food bland tho... Sounds like you are down that way anyway so give it a go

    • Thanks penguin  always wondered about that place and that’s way more info than I ever thought I would get  (used to live above a gun nut on friern road - he would tell me nothing)
    • There was a Saturday afternoon crowd of enthusiasts, and at other times the owner might have been off acquiring stock. He also repaired air guns, which he also sold. He stocked edged weapons, uniforms, including antique uniforms, air guns and ammo and starting pistols and shot. Some medals and other militaria. Quite a lot of ex service chit chat on a Saturday. I had an amateur interest, didn't deal a lot, in English pattern swords and other mainly 19th century militaria. And made some good purchases there. I'm afraid WWII and later events was the major focus of most of the regulars.
    • Did anyone actually venture in to that place? I recall it always being closed/very uninviting!
