Anyone know how to set up a food stand for the Saturday market?

Recommended Posts

If you have to ask this on a public internet forum I doubt you are qualified in terms of hygiene to provide any food! Hang on though, you did say Northcross Rd 'market'? Ask Foxy. .

Grok is right. Please make sure you abide by all the necessary regulations in order to qualify as being a ?market? stall - according to DulwichFox - our local market inspector.

- the only goods that can be sold are apples, potatoes, bananas, items made from polyester (clothing, luggage), sweets sold by the scoop that look like well-known sweets but don?t taste the same.

- Goods for sale and prices of said goods should be declared to passers-by in an unintelligible fashion at top volume - like a donkey which has just had a stick shoved up it?s ringpiece.

- wear your leather money pouch at all times and be sure to smoke one roll-up (no cigarettes please) every five minutes, especially if you?re handling food.

- gentlemen should be addressed as ?mate?, ladies as ?darlin??

- all communication should be in French, like they do in France - The Spiritual Home Of Markets

Follow these rules and you can?t go far wrong. ?It?s what the people want?

Good see Star-Bob-Star back.. have missed you ridiculous comments..

I haven't been posting myself here recently and was talking about this to someone else

who was inquiring why The Forum was so quiet.

I replied 'They don't have anyone to have a go at..' as Louisa was also not posting.

But then I put 2-3 posts up and the Forum has bust into life.. You could not make it up..

Talk about neigbourhood watch...

Awaiting comments about Egoism, Narcissism, and all the other -isms

P.S.

By the way by definition...

Egoism does not uplift oneself above others. It is venal but not at the expense of others.

Egoism can be considered a virtue. It can be a vivid or a normative view.

Hope that helps..

Take no notice of *bob*'s comments.. They are purely personal.

He thinks he thinks he is funny but Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.

There are IMHO some hygiene issues but it seems to be overlooked by some.

I'm not the Market Inspector. I use common sense. People here will bad mouth certain well established

mainly Asian outlets but wont have a word said about the market. One has to draw ones own conclusions

on why that may be..

I once asked about how to get a stall and was told 'There's a long waiting list..' and harder if you are

going to be selling similar goods to those already available..

There are many food outlets already but cannot see that being a problem.

Good luck with your new venture..

DF it seems the minute you or I burst back into life, the forum starts to react. It's like a chemical reaction.

I gave posting a break too as I felt A few folk were over indulging in goading, the greedy swines (yes that includes you *Bob*). So now they've had a bit of a crash diet, no doubt these couple of posts will give you something to feed on. I'm still banned from the main section, I think this forum reaps what it sows. Ban informative members and end up up with no forum at all. As you were.

Louisa.

Missed you too Seabag. Like a caged lion that's not been fed in a while, I do hope you enjoyed chomping on that feast of a post I just fed you! I think the Goading stick needs its battery recharging my love!

And red devil could you not pick a better actress? I like to see myself as a slightly more matured Jodie Foster of sorts, and I picture foxy as more of a Donald Sutherland (Hunger Games incarnation) kind of chap. Nice try though.

Louisa.

I did that too *Bob*, but it's not enough.

To show my appreciation I've decided to have his photo transferred onto icing to adorn my EDF anniversary cake, 8 years in a month's time. I just wouldn't have made it this far without him...

    • In 2016 London City Airport began using concentrated flight paths. When there's a predominantly westerly wind, incoming aircraft approach from East London (north of the River. When there's a predominantly Easterly wind, incoming aircraft approach the airport from the West: circling through Forest Hill, Dulwich, Vauxhall, Tower Hamlets, Docklands. This latter flight path affects many of us in South East London. https://www.london.gov.uk/who-we-are/what-london-assembly-does/questions-mayor/find-an-answer/london-city-airport-concentrated-flight-paths The planes going into City are often below 2,000 ft, so very noisy. Sometimes we have incoming Heathrow at the same time, flying higher. The early flights that I hear e.g. 04:30 are incoming to Heathrow. They are scheduled to land at 05:30 but are 'early'. Apparently the government allows a percentage of flights to arrive early and late (but these are now established as regular occurrences, informally part of the schedule). IMHO Londoners are getting very poor political representation on this issue. Incredible that if you want to complain about aircraft noise, you're supposed to contact the airport concerned! Preposterous and designed solely in favour of aviation expansion.
    • Yet another recommendation for Jafar. Such a nice guy, really reliable and fair. He fixed a problem with our boiler and then incredibly kindly made two more visits to replace a different part at no extra cost.
    • I didn't have any problems with plane noise until city airport started flying planes to and from about 5-8 minutes apart from 5.30 am or  6 am,  and even with ear plugs and double glazing I am woken at about 6 well before I usually would wake  up. I have lived here since 1986 and it is relatively recently that the planes have been flying far too low over East dulwich. I very much doubt that they are headinbg to Heathrow or from Heathrow. As the crow flies we are much , MUCH closer to City Airport than Heathrow or Gatwick. I even saw one flying so low you could see all the windows, when I was in Peckham Rye Park.
