goosey-goosey
Any advice on getting a very minor windscreen chip repaired, or hopefully not? I heard a very loud crack driving (in a new car!) on the motorway the other week, and expected significant damage to the windscreen caused by a stone or similar. All I found was a tiny (2mm?) chip, which really surprised me. In fact, I now wonder if it was caused by whatever hit us, but the rest of the car seems unscathed and it drives fine. Anyway, assuming the chip is new, is it worth repairing? I know it might grow and Autoglass (via my insurers) won't charge much, but still... Is it worth it? Have you experienced a loud crack, and later filled it? There, that's the smutty puns started. Loz
Check your car insurance - a lot of policies will do the repair free of charge. Salsaboy
I had one about the same size a few years ago and Autoglass said it was too small to repair. Seabag
I'd get it done if the insurance does it without affecting your policyI've had 2 in 4 months, Silvershield are coming to do the last one this week Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/78809-chip-in-windscreen-to-fill-or-not-to-fill/#findComment-913302 Share on other sites
malumbu
Autoglass told me on a casual enquiry that anything over a penny in size is too big, this clearly isn't too big (my chip is and it increases by a mm every few years) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/78809-chip-in-windscreen-to-fill-or-not-to-fill/#findComment-913309 Share on other sites
goosey-goosey
Thanks, everyone for the replies. I'm going to phone Autoglass and take it from there.
