In desperate need of winter sun and would appreciate recommendations for accommodation. A separate bedroom for our toddler is a must, so struggling with the usual holiday sites.

Think we're after a villa or apartment in a resort with a big pool and close to beach and restaurants.

Any ideas?

Thanks

We stayed here and liked it. http://villaskamezi.com Each villa has its own small pool and it was nice but very very quiet. It's on the far end of the seafront and a good walk along a nice boardwalk to the restaurants. It could work well for a toddler who naps happily in a buggy. I found it a bit too quiet but it was lovely having our own pool.
We stayed here http://www.lanzaroteretreats.com, actually i was pregnant and it was before we had kids, but everyone else there had kids and wondered why on earth we were coming to such a family friendly place before we needed to! It was great, I definitely will go back with my children when we can. There's a donkey and chickens, cats, and lots of play areas for kids, and it's generally a really lovely place to stay. The nearest beach was a bit rocky and too windy for us, although that might be time of year as it was March, so we drove to other beaches. That may or may not make it less child-friendly, not sure.
The Princess Yaiza is superb, but I'm not sure if it can manage your 2nd bedroom requirement. The Gran Melia Volcan http://www.hotelvolcanlanzarote.com/index.php?lang=en is fantastic too and has rooms with a separate bedroom area. It also has no steps. There's no disco etc at night but if you have a little one with an early bedtime that might be a good thing - it's very quiet. There are no steps so it's very buggy friendly and there's lots and lots of restaurants and cafes all along that stretch which goes along up to the Yaiza and beyond. We used to just pop out with the buggy and sleeping child and find a restaurant on the walkway. I know that it's available through Sovereign if you wanted a package.

    • There was good item on Radio 4’s consumer affairs programme You &Yours on 1st December. It was about these CIC fund raising scams and refers to this We R Blighty mob in particular (they have been successfully prosecuted twice and fined for their activities in the City of London). Also mentioned the “knife crime charity” lot who also show up in ED. The advice was to give them nothing and that they are breaking the law. It’s on the BBC Sounds app or via this link  (the item starts at 41m51s in): https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n065      I think you know perfectly well that is not what the poster is saying. There are a lot of CICs (there are now 37,000 of them) that have been set up specifically to mislead the public into handing over money. This We R Blighty is one such. These are the details of one of the cases against them in the City last month: https://news.cityoflondon.gov.uk/we-r-blighty-told-to-pay-out-thousands-over-illegal-collections/
    • Are you saying all CICs are dodgy? I think that’s totally unfair.
    • Similar deal to those Hive City guys who also camp outside of M&S, also a dodgy CIC rather than a charity
    • please report this to the police - were there any witnesses? She should face charges. the owner should not allow dogs off lead - I'm so sorry this has happened.  It would be good if you can identify her - are there cameras - in the cafes around? - follow her, find her address and report her. https://www.met.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/ac/animal-crime/ also report to the park wardens so they can be found Your Local Council: Contact them to report issues in parks or public areas, especially if you know the dog or owner, as they investigate under local bylaws and the Dangerous Dogs Act. https://www.gov.uk/control-dog-public/report-a-dog
