Hello.

Has anyone been skiing with a 3yo boy and a 5yo girl?

If so, wondered if full salopettes and ski jacket are needed or if warm winter clothes/waterproofs sufficed?

If full skiwear is needed, does anyone have any recommendations?

I've put an advert on the classifieds for second hand skiwear but then thought i'd ask from those that have been before.

I'll buy clothes if i have to, but given we're unlikely to go until next year we'll probably only get one use out of them!

thanks in advance, all

Hi, i would go for salopettes combined with your kids' winter jackets. For salopettes I would try H&M (Swedish brand - they do ski gear for kids - ?20 for salopettes and if you buy a size too big they can have them next year too!) or maybe Try Decathlon in Surrey Keyes. i think waterproofs (even though they of course would wear stuff underneath) would get a bit cold. A good pair of mittens to keep wetness and cold away is a must too!

Hi

i would def go for salopettes preferably with the braces and higher backs or you will end up with a lot of tears from cold children with snow everywhere and good quality mittens (rather than gloves - much easier to get on and off. I also put my kids in thermals top and bottom and goggles as it can get very cold and windy sitting on lifts etc. Do you have boys or girls? I would prob have some bits from last year that would fit your 3 year old but they are for girls.

thanks all, some good tips here.

The 3yo is a boy unfortunately. Appreciate the offer though.

Think we'll just do a weekend trip to Decathalon. By the looks of it I should be able to kit them out relatively cheaply.

Now fingers crossed they'll enjoy the lessons..wouldn't want to put them off!

  • 1 month later...

You may already have what you need by now, but I've got an all in one navy blue snowsuit which my son wore skiing when he was 3 and 4 years old. It's very stylish, in perfect nick, unisex, very warm, and super easy to get on and off. I'd sell it for ?20

I also have some navy blue snow boots, size 2. Might be too big for your son but might fit your daughter? ?5 for those...

Let me know if either are of interest. Photos attached

    • If you read the article posted above, it is all very carefully worded. However I've found this: https://uknip.co.uk/news/uk/uk-news/peckham-rye-park-attack-man-seriously-injured-august-2025/
    • Angela Rayner had this country at her feet but as soon as I saw that photo of her lounging about in the kayak off her new seaside home, vaping and drinking!
    • This is horrible to hear about. We used to get daily Police patrols on foot & even regular patrols on horseback in the area. I know our local station had some bad eggs, but the officers I came across in the area back then were all a fantastic bunch. Sadly nowadays the Met's presence is non-existent, bar the weekly walk from the SNT. I hope something gets done, arrests made and the victim some genuine support and counselling.
    • Two wrongs don't make a right. Labour ran on a manifesto of "we aren't like them" and "we are different" and"you can trust us/we will restore faith in politics". They are doing nothing to convince anyone that any of those promises are being met - they are letting everyone down. u-turning on everything and are fast-tracking the doomsday scenario of a Reform government. Even the runway on the "it's all the Tories fault" is running out. I dislike politicians because they cannot be trusted and Rayner just highlighted that with ribbons on. She should have been so careful after the focus on the electoral roll issues she had with the house in Ashton-under-Lyne and then under a year later this comes up. Clearly the advice she took included a recommendation to take proper advice that she failed to do - that's just daft and the most galling thing is that she didn't just resign when this came up - she tried to spin out of it but must have known she was toast. Trust is fast being eroded. I desperately want Labour and Starmer to fix this because the alternative it too scary to think about but the way things are going they are fast-tracking Farage into No.10. Labour are letting us all down.
