Fuschia
I note that 600M from heber takes you as far as the library, across Northcross rd, as far as Dunstans Rd... but for some of those addresses Goodrich would be their closest Southwark School. toast
I'm very likely to be wrong but wont 600m walking distance translate to something much smaller as the crow flies? Which may explain Goodrich nursery's new 200m catchment? Mellors
My distance is much shorter as the crow flies (walking means you have to go round corners etc), so I would think that is true? reetpetite
This is just an observation as none of this applies to me but as a frequent user of the 12 bus how come it is full of children going to Heber and Goodrich travelling from well beyond the bottom of Barry Road !...and St Anthonys. Coach Beth
Because the problem is because of a change in demographics - I believe there was a noticable 'baby boom' in the area a few years ago - resulting in this years school intake being so oversubscribed. A friend who is the mother of a 7 year old had no problem getting into her 1st choice school St. John's - even though she lives about 700 meters away. Whereas last year, children over 200 meters away couldn't get in. So you will be seeing children who are older than reception age (and who possibliy also have siblings at the school or who got in on a church place) travelling further to those schools. toast
They bother taking a bus less than 700m?Maybe people moved in for schools and when they got into the school they moved further away?Or large scale school admissions fraud? Fuschia
Heber used to be very unpopular. Many families with older children, and also little ones now in the lower years, live quite some dustance from the school and always have. Other families have moved since their small ones joined the school. I think accusations of fraud are rather unfounded. You need proof of address, being on the electoral roll, child benefit and utility bills to apply, after all.
