  1. Been there, hope it settles down with some of the tips above, in the mean time my advice is lots of kisses and cuddles and ear plugs are not cheating!
  2. Serious danger of getting cans stuck on foot. Not for the faint hearted.
  3. I drove past the funeral as it started, so many young people, all carrying flowers.it was very touching. When driving back it was all police cars and people in shock. My sympathies to all the families concerned.
  4. Going through this now with youngest son, I do keep reminding myself that it will pass. His big bro had horrific tantrums, quite aggressive at times and has turned out to be v gentle and level headed. One thing that has worked for us is a unified push on the positive every now and again. Catch them doing good and make a fuss, its so easy to get into a negative cycle, esp with young baby around. Good luck, it does pass.
  5. All sorted thanks to intervention by council who helped the nursery work out a 'stretched' solution we will get 10.5h spread over the whole year. Thanks for all the helpful posts and pm's.
  6. Thanks for pm's, it clearly is possible. I am expecting to still have to pay a wack, just given that it would be a ?217 pm discount of we were 3 days I was banking on childcare costs finally easing. It's such a lot of money, worth checking out. Thanks again for the examples from other nursery by pm.
  7. They were not insisting, just suggesting. My gut feeling is that they just could not get their heads around it. It does sound VERY complicated. Will feedback.
  8. Thanks Fuschia Good to see your back on the forum. I did call the council and a very nice lady said that we should get the discount and she would give them a call. I roughly worked it out and its worth over 2k so fingers crossed.
  9. Sorry, really naff but my kids have gone nuts for this free app, v v silly! Good for shy talkers! https://market.android.com/details?id=com.outfit7.talkingtom2free&hl=en
  10. ClareC I'll pm you, I don't want to name and shame and put people off as its a lovely nursery which is new and still finding its feet, and I am still hoping the nursery might reconsider. Would love to know how other nurserys work this out.
  11. Hello, Advice needed, my childs nursery has just said that they only pass on money for children doing 3 days or more, so children going 2 days get nothing. The nursery have recommended us putting him in for an extra day as it works out cheaper, really not satisfactory as i quite like his company!. I really don't want to fall out with them but i'm really annoyed esp as their website states that they pass it on to ALL children. I don't know many other parents there, what would you do?/ Does anyone get the discount elsewhere on 2 days?

Thanks, you just made my day!:)) (mother of a late developer)
  13. The council have almost no say over academies, no idea about free schools. Probably more effective to goto a chain instead e.g Harris or habidashers. I'm very wary of free schools, but then again I don't really know what they are. I am however awair that given the required buldges in primary schools the last few years I am glad someone is thinking about these things now. would be nice to hear the councils plans for dealing with these extra children when they hit secondary age. People sure arnt leaving the job security of London right now, or any time soon.
  14. Anyone know what we do with the old blue one? I vote make a giant blue igloo on goose green.

They might be on holiday from checking all threads on public forums just incase input is Demanded. They have ward surgeries why not goto one, or pm someone.
  18. Pm me if you have lost one. There is a number of the dealership on the fob so I will also give them a call, ill give it a week then pop it into the police in Peckham.
  19. I do wonder if some of the threads on here are just lazy journalists fishing for a story.
  20. Only just seen the new playground, it's not finished so hoping it wilp make sense at some point. Live update, Dog just did a wee in channel, oh dear.
  21. So the 400k works are now under review due to the fact that people may be upset to lose some rusty bollards. Great. I walk past these every day and seriously the novelty has worn off. There is not going to be much money floating about over the next few years so if anyome is keen to get the works happening sooner rather than later and actually smarten the area the area up please speak up as the council are clearly listening. Edited to add Reworking this area was one on the labour peckham rye's pledges. It has been voted for!
  22. Ms integrity can only live up to her name if she stops posting about such a sensitive issue on a public forum. We have had situations like this before, a school cannot defend itself on this medium and it can only further the damage to a local school.
  23. Neilson99, do you actually live by this area? It clearly needs work. Why on earth would people be against improving their area, it could become a really nice part of se22. These improvements would attract business surely.
  24. Giving a child and parent 10 min time out is a way of taking things off the boil. It is a far cry from child abuse. Do you know these neighbours at all? Are they cold, uncaring, 'abusive'. If not why not cut them some slack.
