We are a young couple that really want to have a pet. We love dogs but they demand a lot of time, so we are thinking about adopting a cat as they are more independent.

I live in a state where everbody seems to have a cat and they look so friendly! I want a cat too!

I want honest opinions from cat owners to know whether my idea is good or not.

Thanks

Ana

Excellent idea - you should definately have a cat. In fact it is a good idea not to just have one cat but to have two! I had one cat before and when we we went away we could usually find people who would either stay in our flat or come in and feed him but i did used to feel that he got a bit lonely when we weren't around. Sadly Jesse died last year and we have since got two kittens - who are now big cats and it is lovely seeing them play together and I never worry about them getting lonely. As we live in a flat we don't have the convenience of cat flaps etc but they get used to going out and coming in again when I call them.

Issues that need sorting are things like who will look after then when you are on holiday, male cats need to be 'done' otherwise they can stink out the place if they are indoor cats ....and I think that is about it.

Go on get one!!! (sorry don't mean to be pushy...just a cat enthusiast)

A friend who is single had a couple of cats all was well until she took up with a lover, which meant more week-ends away and that was a nuisance as she was forever looking for places to take them when she was away.

Why not foster one for a few months and see how things go?

    • Warning to parents using the playground in Dulwich Park. My daughter and her friends found a bag of ‘crunchy powder’ in the children’s playground this morning around 11ish. They thought it was ‘popping candy’ and all tried some before seen with it. Request to parents using the playground - if you see plastics bags with suspect looking contents or powder on the floor in the playground or park: pick it up and throw it in the bin. Don’t walk past and think someone else will deal with it. The next person to walk by might be a child who could pick it up not understanding what it could be. Hopefully our daughter and her friends will be ok and it’s a lucky escape. But please be aware in case anyone else’s child may have found it before them.
    • I’m looking for some ply sheets, ideally 9mm or 12mm. It doesn’t have to look good. As long as it’s not rotten it’ll be fine. I’d like bigger sheets, but I’m open to whatever anyone’s got. If you can help, drop me a DM.  Cheers
    • the only known name is from that poster in the window where it says to email [email protected]. I thought that website might shed some light on who is creating the posters I hope whoever was attacked is doing ok, but agree there is something very off/vigilante-ish about all of this
    • Sorry to be dim, but where has that link come from and why is it relevant to this thread? I'm not doubting you, just wondering if I've missed something above!
