  1. I'm looking for an Ofsted registered childminder in Herne Hill/Tulse Hill, any recommendations? TIA xx
  2. Can anyone recommend a reliable cat sitter please? I'm in Thurlow Park road near Tulse hill and will need someone to look after my 8yo cat for 4 days only, please pm for more info. Thank you
  3. And don't forget the childminder's rate vary quite a bit, I pay ?5ph but some can charge as much as ?10. I go to all nearly new sales around and have saved a lot over the years doing that. I have no family in the UK whatsoever apart from my husband, it's hard but we manage fine. Somehow you just make it work and never look back!
  4. Wondering the same thing, I sent an email last week but no one replied yet.
  5. Has anyone been recently? Is it still on Tuesday mornings? I walked past it last week and the place seemed to be closed. Otherwise can anyone recommend a Tuesday playgroup for a almost 1 year old? Many thanks x
  6. We have used gumtree and edf, both cars were very reliable and unbelievably cheap. Keep an eye here and gumtree, you never know what you will find. Best of luck!
  7. I have been secretly dreaming of becoming a midwife since my daughter was born but I don't think I'm ready for full time studying, long hours etc with a one year old to look after. I've talked to a couple of midwives in the past few months and I will definitely look into this when my kids are older and I have some extra time for myself.
  8. Yes, Southwark will pick it up, just fill out the form or call them to arrange the day/time. http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200084/recycling_and_waste/1667/bulky_waste_collection/1
  9. You are not alone, It's silly but I find some groups a bit intimidating and being anxious only makes it worse. I have a 10 month old and live near peckham rye station, let me know if you want to meet up sometime. X Ana
  10. I was with dmc crystal palace road when pregnant and I'm pretty sure my midwife (Lanes) said they only see women who are registered with the cpr branch. Changed to Chadwick road when my daughter was born so not sure how it works, but I can say that their baby clinic is very good and of course much easier to get an appointment! Hope that helps x
  11. Went in there today and spent ?6 on 2 tiny slices of cake then when I asked for a carrier bag this woman looked at me like I was asking for free food and said they don't normally give carrier bags as it's wasteful and expensive! Never again.
  12. Oooh the "flowering".. my midwife said something similar I will never forget, very distressing indeed!
  13. Hi pandrns, there's a bumps and babies group tomorrow afternoon if you're free, it would be great to see you there!
  14. Anne Marie on north cross road is excellent.
  15. The Lanes are fantastic, you don't need to worry they are truly the best! In a couple of months they will invite you to a lovely session where you have the chance to meet all the midwives and other mums, they also invite 2 mums with their newborns to tell their birth stories. I went when pregnant and later to tell my story and honestly this was the best seminar I went to, better then the antenatal classes and the breastfeeding seminar (nhs). I didn't do hypnobirthing classes but I read a couple of books and listened to the cd's and it definitely helped, the classes are much better of course. You are doing everything you can to have the best, most relaxed birth possible, just listen to your body and the midwife and everything will be fine :) Best of luck x
  16. Hi Coco, the community midwives at King's have a home birth seminar once a month near the hospital on Caldecot road. I'm almost sure it's the first Saturday of the month but it's better to give them a call to confirm. I had a wonderful home birth with the Lanes and the only thing I would say is to keep an open mind about going to the hospital as you might get too tired if the labour is too long especially if it's your first. On the other hand I had a 4 hour labour with contractions every 2 minutes from the beginning so I didn't have time to think of hospital but would have gone if it was any longer, I was so exhausted could barely keep my eyes open by the time my daughter was born. Enjoy! It's a wonderful experience xx
  17. A bit far but last year we got one at b&q in old Kent road
  18. While you're there try the Beco Gemini, definitely my best purchase so far x
  19. Another vote for Kumon, I did this for 8 years and made a big difference not only with maths but with other subjects too. It's definitely worth a try!
  20. I saw a boy(2 or 3) the other day having a pee in front of Burger King in Peckham. His mother pretended she was not seeing anything and just walked away after he finished. I seriously thought about following her so I could do the same thing in front of her house!
  21. I confess have tried almost all of them but couldn't find any Brownie as good as the ED deli one! I'll try dolce vita tomorrow just to make sure..
