Dulwich parkrun* has been chosen to participate in a pilot scheme, in partnership with Run Mummy Run (RMR)**, starting on 28 November, looking at ways to introduce and encourage more people to the fun of parkrun.

* Parkrun is a free, timed 5km event ? you can run, walk or jog. http://www.parkrun.org.uk/dulwich/

** Run Mummy Run (RMR) is an online community of women who run. http://www.runmummyrun.co.uk

I am the parkrun/RMR run buddy for Dulwich parkrun. I will be attending 2-3 parkruns each month, and will be the point of contact for new runners, particularly those who might be a bit nervous about attending on their own, or who don?t feel confident running 5k (don?t worry about being too slow, parkrun?s ethos is one of inclusivity ? it is a timed run, not a race). Our aim is to encourage more people (women, men and children) to attend parkrun. Children under the age of 11 must stay with their responsible adult.

The start area for Dulwich parkrun is on the main carriageway nearest to the Queen Mary?s Gate entrance (entrance off the South Circular, Dulwich Common). My meeting point will be near to the parkrun flag / bench, from 8:30am. I?ll be wearing a Run Mummy Run hoodie.

There is plenty of free parking at Dulwich park (enter via the Old College Gate entrance). Don?t forget to sign up for parkrun in advance of the event and print off your barcode. http://www.parkrun.org.uk/register/form/

To enable us to assess the success of the pilot, if you are attending parkrun as part of the RMR group and you are not already affiliated to a running club, please would you add Run Mummy Run as your running club details on your parkrun profile (women only, I?m afraid!) This will enable us to see how many participants of the pilot there are each week.

Just a reminder, if you are coming to Dulwich parkrun tomorrow, don't forget to register for parkrun and print off and bring along your barcode. Also, if you are not already affiliated to a running club, please add Run Mummy Run as your club so that we can use this to monitor the success of the pilot (women only). Thanks and hopefully see some of you tomorrow.

    • Well good for you, I don't feel safe. And saying why don't I go and live somewhere else is crass.  Yes London is lawless, open your eys and see the reality.
    • Also, as discussed on another thread, that particular  assailant was possibly (we don't know)  mentally ill. Whereas I'm guessing most crimes locally are   committed for money, (ie things that can be sold), food (if someone is really desperate, or to sell) or just pure mischief (like the recent goings on on Peckham Rye). I'm a 76 year old woman, and I feel safe on the streets, and I frequently go to Central London. If you seriously don't feel safe living here, why on earth don't you go and live somewhere else?! It's absolute nonsense to say London is lawless, and it's absolute nonsense to say the police stand by and do nothing. There will always be crime. It used to be cutpurses and highwaymen. And organised gangs of thieves. And people like Jack the Ripper.
    • No it is not, it is a fact whether you like it or not. Do you feel safe on the streets, because I don't, do you go too central London, I don't as I don't feel safe. No one knows if someone is i) carrying a weapon or a knife and ii) you don't know what will trigger them to use it. So feel free to live in your bubble, but the reality is London is lawless and the police stand by and do nothing.
    • Leon responded quickly to my online enquiry and to follow-up texts when arranging a date for the work. He replaced a faulty switch for my outdoor sensor light. I expected it would be difficult to find an electrician willing to take on such a small job. So I was really pleased to find Leon and would definitely recommend him.
