Etiquette of sending thank you cards- when is it too late?

Got married ten months ago; and still haven't sent all the thank you cards. When is it better to cut your losses and not bother, or should I still send them? Feel really guilty haven't done them yet, but have had a manic year. What do you people think? To send, or not to send?

I've always heard that you had a year to send out the cards after the wedding - I'd go ahead and send them.

Christmas/thankyou card - problem solved and possibly people won't recognise your ill mannered tardyness which would be an undeserved bonus
