I have an asbestos issue at home that southwark council are not addressing. would particyularly like to hear about the legal aspect of this. Many thanks. It's when you come to remove it that the trouble starts because the dust is poisonous. If you don't need to disturb it, don't worry. If you really wanted some removed you'd probably have to pay someone a fortune to do it. EDKiwi Posted November 7, 2009 Share Posted November 7, 2009 Yeah it's the dust/fibres that are the problem, if it's not disturbed it's ok but if you are knocking or drilling holes in it and releasing dust and fibres it can get into your lungs and cause cancer.My dad used to tell me about how at work before they knew about the dangers they used to throw it around like snowballs at one pint during renovations, sadly a number of his former workmates have since died from cancer.
