Ventilation Issues - Air Brick Installation

Hi

I am in the process of doing up my flat which is part of a period property. The bedroom has a bay window and the external wall suffers from excessive condensation (black spores, damp lines on the wallpaper etc). I have been been told it isnt damp and is down to lack of ventilation which the insallation of airbricks should resolve.

A guy came round and quoted me (Ian) who i found on here, but he decided to not bother in the end so Im starting again. Ive had other quote which was pretty extortionate so just wanted someone to come round and sort it out so i can decorate!

Not a big job; may require a covering on the internal wall and air brick but either way it just needs addressing.

Anyone know anyone who can come and sort out would be very welcome!

thanks

R

Has the wallpaper been up for a long time?

I'm just asking as they used to put it up with flour paste which had no fungicide in it.

My Mum had an issue with an outside wall but once I stripped off all the old paper and paste (I could tell it was flour paste) there's been no reoccurrence of mould, although the wall remains cold.

    • This is just normal business behaviour. That's why there are so many coffee shops in ED and shops selling gifts and interiors stuff, clothes, restaurants.  If there's more than one business of a similar type then it can benefit all of them up to a saturation point and keep up quality. It's all sounding like many think Chango has made a malicious move when it actually sounds like it's owned by one guy who has a good business that has done well.   Anyway this is all great advertising for both empanada places. Very close by is the organic grocer who sells really good value and very tasty samosas and other Indian snacks which are also worth trying.
    • Hello, Does this lovely little panther have a name? & Is he neutered & microchipped?
    • Well I don’t approve for a shop doing the same food to open so near - just wrong in my opinion. Why not go to the village, Peckham - foot fall would be great in Peckham and certainly more multi  cultural than ED. Village has money but doubt foot fall would be as good as ED.  At least they could have gone to the stretch leading up to Peckham Rye or why not bottom of Barry Road?? Or even North Cross Road I for one, on principal won’t be going in.
    • Heh yeah haven't even bothered to remove the emdash. The OP is AI slop as well.
