1. La Gaditana, North Cross Road

Really like this new addition to the local food and wine offer. High quality, organic Spanish produce, friendly and knowledgeable staff and reasonably priced.

The Iberico ham is utterly delicious ....

2. Re: The Patch/the Mag/The Lordship

Tried out the Lordship last night -

had a lovely meal with great wine and service and generous portions. Very impressed

3. Re: Dulwich Property Maintenance

Another strong recommendation for Paul and Tony

4. Re: Moxtons fishmongers

Moxons is a bloody awesome fishmonger - great produce, lovely service. LOVE THEM.

5. Re: Ed Warehouse (what's happening?)

I'm very excited about Brickhouse opening in ED. My husband and I often buy a Brickhouse sourdough from Franklins on a Saturday morning and enjoy it over the weekend. I don't consider it wasted money.

Forum: General

10. Re: Kuki hair bellenden road

Lovely salon, great cut and colour, friendly knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend Kuki Hair

MMMMmmh . Are you commission..

Only mentioned it because I recognised the name.... 16 posts..

The other posts were all knocking Louisa and myself...

Foxy.

Gosh yes, you've totally found me out Dulwich Fox, well done you! This is how I make a living. I go into a local business once every 3 to 4 months and ask them to pay me a massive fee to big up their business on the local internet forum. You're such a detective. Move over Columbo. My bank balance is bursting with the fruits of my devious plotting.

Either that or I might just be a local resident who very occasionally posts something positive on the forum about a local business.

I don't really understand why the administrator hasn't sent you the same way as Louisa. You are a massive troll.

There is nothing sinister and no malice intended..

Just an observation that the said poster had seemingly only posted recommendations without

interacting with other users posts after giving Louisa and myself some stick..

A lot of that stuff is now water under the bridge... Lou and I who have never met are I suppose outspoken

and truthful in our opinions.. some folk cant handle that..

I'm sorry..

Foxy.

Of course.. genuine recommendations are fine... if you have had a pleasant experience.. I tend to give

a report back to the Curry Club thread when ever we have had an exceptional night out..

I generally do not make comment when our night has been less exceptional.. I do not bad mouth any establishment.

although I might of made comments about what I consider to be good value for what is available..

I'm fair..

Hi Andricia

Thank you for the review and I feel sad that another forum user has had a dig at you for doing so when it's obvious you are a genuine poster. Please keep posting them, good or bad, and don't let others with a rotten chip on their shoulder put you off.

Edited to Add: DulwichFox, you have been warned.

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?
    • ED is included in the 17 August closure set (or just possibly 15 August, depending on which part of the page you trust more) listed at https://metro.co.uk/2025/07/25/full-list-25-poundland-stores-confirmed-close-august-23753048/. Here incidentally are some snippets from their annual reports, at https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02495645/filing-history. 2022: " during the period we opened 41 stores and closed 43 loss-making/under-performing stores.  At the period-end we were trading from 821 stores in the UK, IoM and ROI. ... "We renogotiated 82 leases in the year, saving on average 45% versus the prior lease agreement..." 2023: "We also continued to improve our market footprint through sourcing better store locations, opening 53 and closing 51 stores during the year." 2024:  "The ex-Wilco stores acquired in the prior year have formed a core part of this strategy to expand our store network.  We favour quality over quantity and during the period we opened 84 stores and closed 71 loss-making/under-performing ones."
    • Ha! After I posted this, I thought of lots more examples. Screwfix and the hardware store? Mrs Robinson and Jumping Bean? Chemists, plant shops, hairdressers...  the list goes on... it's good to have healthy competition  Ooooh! Two cheese shops
    • You've got a point.  Thinking Leyland and Screwfix too but this felt different.
