I ventured into the For Sale section yesterday on a rare visit. Lo and behold my item is now on page 5 in just over 24 hours. The place is full of people with names I've never heard of who don't appear in the Lounge.

What's more, how do you sell anything there if your post sinks without a trace in minutes? Start a thread in the Lounge?

Put up some decent pictures, sell it for a realistic price and friendly price. it will go. 80% of the sellers using this section don't manage either of these things.

Bumping is bad form, punishable by death.

If it's still on sale after a week.. see earlier post about realistic price and decent photographs.

I'm sure there's a bit of leeway for the 'conscientious bumper' (added information, price reduction) but a bit of leeway can so often be a slippery slope to taking the piss.

Some people find it hard it hard to accept that, you know, no-one wants it.

Yep. That's the kind of thing I mean. You add a bit of info, a picture, a price reduction etc. Some things just have a v. limited market so need a while to sell. Allegedly.

Course I will *Bob* but as volume 2 is special it would probably cost you ?50.

Me too Jeremy but for a fairly select group of people. Mind you if threw in a free towel some of the punters above may go for it.

Trying a new tactic. I've put the price up. Still sinking like a stone with pair of shoes (right one missing) and ill fitting dentures and the like moving up the charts. I need people to ask questions if I'm to stay afloat if you've nothing better to do.

I know *Bob*, I know. I'm an amateur at this malarkey.

PS I have a sandwich toaster myself so I didn't go for it. Love the sandwiches. In fact I often browse through one or other Volumes of The History of Irish Tennis while eating my cheese toastie. I have a paper towel to hand as the quality of the paper is such that you just wouldn't want to get greasy hands on it.

By the way the author is none less than the son of the cousin of a famous writer Aiden Higgins who recently passed away.

    • What is the reason for the change in name? Just curious.
    • Why change it?  You’ve got a fantastic historic, memorable name and you want to change it for something innocuous.
    • From the school newsletter:   A New Name for Dog Kennel Hill As you know we have been discussing and consulting with stakeholders about a  name change at DKH for a while. Following engagement with staff, pupils and  families, we gathered all views on a name change for the school and after  careful consideration of the feedback, the Local Committee and the Trust have  agreed with changing the school name to Grove Primary School from  September 2025.  Over the next few months we will begin a gradual process of changing our  name on signage, our website and emails etc. We will keep you updated.  We will be looking at designing a new logo to match the new school name and  will be working closely with a graphic designer to get creative. The school  council will be actively involved in this process. We will share the results with  you as soon as a design has been agreed and confirmed. We will be creating a  new school jumper to replace the old one, once the logo has been finalised. We  will phase this in over time.  We know that this is a welcoming change for some and that there are  parents and children who will be sad about the change. However, as a school  we think it will be a positive change for our school community and we will  work together to ensure that the ethos and culture of DKH will remain!
