Having escaped the pain of Mrs. adonirum watching this live by both of us being at Quo at the O2 on Sunday, I have just had to endure a recording of it being on (in the background as far as I am concerned I hasten to add). However, looking at segments of it, has anyone else been struck at how pitifully gaunt and emaciated Cheryl Cole (or whatever her surname now is) has become? Are we witnessing/about to witness another modern day tragedy before our very eyes along the lines of Karen Carpenter back in 80's ? That is to say, a beautiful, talented young woman, unhappy in her marriage (it is reported), "bullied/controlled" (some might interpret) at work (Cheryl by Cowell, Karen Carpenter by her brother Richard) and craving attention through some sort of misguided body dismorphia. The similarities and parallels appear to be there. What do you think?

The obvious parallels between Karen Carpenter and Cheryl Fernadez-Vasini will obviously be noticed at this particular time, but I feel people are jumping the gun on this. Dodgy camera angles can make anyone seem sick or well in one way or another. It is unfair to label her simply because of media reports and social media trolling. To me she seems a healthy weight, and happy in herself. More to this story than meets the eye perhaps, but why not just give her some space rather than constantly talk about her weight, it surely isn't going to help her in any way?

Louisa.

Can't argue with that *Bob*, perhaps the silkiest wonderful voice ever recorded? Maybe, I say just maybe, eclipsed by Adele?(accepted different style of singing)?

Louisa, genuinely wasn't aware of lots of media reporting on this, but I can't agree with you that she seems a healthy weight, not compared to how she appeared (physically) in the past. How long before she starts wearing Boleros and the like to cover her Clavicle and Scapula regions? Now that really would be an indication, don't you think?

The standard drill is:

Send her out. Couple of spoken ad libs. Let her wobble through the first line - ooh, sounds a bit dodge - she's definitely singing live though isn't she? Cheryl performs the classic 'touch your earpiece manoeuvre' - lawks - her earpiece isn't quite in! Can she pull it off?! Then switch this on (http://www.antarestech.com/products/detail.php?product=Auto-Tune_Live_2) first a little bit, then more as she goes on.

There's a bit in the middle where there's an instrumental break. Switch the plug off. Cheryl shouts 'woo, yeah, c'mob everyone, clap your hands like morons!' Then on it goes again for the rest of the song. The last note is so heavily processed it sounds like a tuning fork. She's done it!

End of song: switch off, Chezza says 'thanks, you've been great'.

The world is crashing and burning in flames around us, foreign johnnies are pounding at her majesties back door looking for handouts, good god fearing honest British people are sleep deprived and near suicidal because of 24/7 Cozy Powell tributes at the hamlet and someone starts a thread about a racist from Heaton that they do not know, who may or may not be thin.

    • @CPR Dave He needs to communicate collectively with all of the beneficiaries.  That is the whole point of my original post.  Electronic communications are the best way of doing this, as I am doing now on this forum.  Apart from the gold digger who will get a six figure sum the rest of us are on four figures, and that is going down by the day. I'm offended by any suggestion that we are not behaving well.  What on earth do you mean?
    • Surprise, surprise. It didn't take them long, did it. This will be something of a test as to how much the council really care about parks and the environment. A footfall of 60,000. Are they mad? There is no way this park is designed for or can sustain that sort of use. Just had a look at the schedule. If allowed to go ahead, this will involve a large slice of the park (not the common) sectioned off and out of use for three weeks of May and the first week of June. Here's an idea, why not trial the festival in one of the other Southwark Parks, so the 'goodness' can be shared around the borough?
    • There was another unprovoked attack on Monday this week on a young woman nearby (Anstey Road) at 6.45pm. Don't have any other details, it was posted on a Facebook group by her flatmate. Pretty worrying  https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EGfDrCAST/
    • OMFG is it possible for the council to do anything without a bunch of armchair experts moaning about it? The library refurb is great news, as it's lovely but completely shagged out - the toilets don't even work reliably. Other libraries in the area will be open longer house during the closure. July is a rubbish time to begin a refurb because it's just before the entire construction sector goes on summer holiday, and it would mean delaying the work another 8 months.
