Just had a guy call at the house saying his firm was in the area doing general works and would I be interested in someone calling round later to do a quote. He offered no ID, or any leaflet identifying the company. I also have a "No cold callers" sign displayed prominently on my fromt door...

Declined the offer but then saw through my twitching net curtains that there was another guy also doing the same thing.

Bearing in mind the number of burglaries and similar reported on the forum recently I just thought I'd post so that people can be on their guard.

Of course it may be legitimate, in which case I shall seek medical attention...

Similar thing happened to me - thought it was very weird, the guy seemed surprised when I opened the door and then asked me questions about the windows at the back of my house & whether we had a conservatory.

It felt suspicious (like he was knocking to see if someone was inside the house, and scoping out the property)

I have used his services on several occasions now and I am always impressed by 1) the speed of his response,  2) his honest pricing,  3) the quality of his interventions.  I had a washing machine crisis the other day where my old appliance started leaking badly and into the flat below.  Aria can within an hour of my call and sorted the whole thing immediately.  Impressive! Highly recommended!    Posted Thursday at 17:56 a. • Capita (always spelt in Private Eye as Crapita) has a record of failure in its management of public contracts that goes back decades. Yet they continue to get more government business and have our money lavished on them. Private profit trumps public service every time.
    • Perhaps the robbers pulled over for a Magnum? A 25-year old Ferrari is probably worth a lot less than many newer cars on the streets locally (£40k-ish, I’m guessing?). I notice the tax is up in a fortnight.
