Builders for structural/opening up of kitchen/diner recommendations.

We are looking to open up our kitchen/dining room and I am looking for builder recommendations.

It's to install steel beams/bi fold doors, plastering, plumbing etc.

If anyone has any recommendations that would be great. I have found lots regarding loft conversions and general handyman/carpenter but not so much for this type of work.

Thank you x

Hi, I can highly recommend Charlie O'Brien for this type of work. If you want to have a look at his facebook you can see some before and after pictures of a very similar job to what you have described. He is under "Charlie O'OBrien Cpob". He is local, very reliable. His number is 07875442992
Hello. We are a small locally based and family run building company and have just finished a similar project in East Dulwich. We would be happy to provide references and give a quote. Please contact Geoff Kingdon on 07970 280878
We have done similar work in our kitchen, it included: knocking walls, installing steel, plumbing and all decorating work. The project was concluded with minimal disturbance and on time. It has been done by Nick 07786131731 and his company. I can highly recommend him.

Hansson construction is Dulwich based company over 30 years experience of extentions, new build and alterations. Ww are fully insured. You are welcome to contact us for more information. www.hanssonconstruction.com

I would not recommend Hansson Construction as ourselves and another family had to hire in different builders to complete works on our respective households this Summer due to poor construction quality and major delays in the works.

You can also try Mc Govern Design and Build, i have used them in the past and they have undertaken many projects including side returns, extensions and complete refurbishments.

Peter one of the PMs is very helpful and has been in the industry for years, and are a lovely team of guys.

Hi Salsie,

I can highly recommend Avalon Builders, they have years of experience, they did our kitchen extension - if you want to come and have a look at their work you are more than welcome to pop over.

Avalon have just split the kitchen design and installation side of the business in to a separate company, which I am a part owner. I may sound biased, but I was nothing to do with the company when they did my extension!

You can contact Lee at Avalon Builders on 020 3857 3745, or give me, Charlie a ring on 07968377560.

Thanks

Charlie

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
    • That was one that the BBC seem to have lost track of.  But they do still have quite a few. These are some in their 60s archive. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0028zp6
