Hi We have had quotes from the above people/companies and happy with both, and just wondered if anyone has had any building work carried out by either of them. I can see Anthony has great feedback but seems to be a lot from first time posters! Not implying that they are 'fake' but would be good to have a variety. We are looking to open up our kitchen/dining room and I am looking for builder recommendations. It's to install steel beams/bi fold doors, plastering, plumbing etc. If anyone has any recommendations that would be great. I have found lots regarding loft conversions and general handyman/carpenter but not so much for this type of work. Thank you x

Try a munchkin 360 they are fab! I asked this lady where she got hers from (boots sell them) as you can tip them up and leave them on sofa etc and nothing spills. They are a cup and you suck them like you would from a straw.

My LO is 10 weeks (big baby) and I also have a 2.5 year old. I am thinking of getting a sling/carrier for him to use when my toddler wants the pushchair and more importantly when I am flying alone in the summer. I will only be able to manage the single pushchair and luggage so think a sling will be my best option when he will be about 7 months. I didn't use one with my 2 year old and wondered what people would recommend. My other option would be a buggy board which I have been debating bit we have a mini city jogger and I'm not sure how well they work as handle bar does not move and I have heard you need to walk very far back to not keep hitting it. Does anyone use one with this pushchair? I will probably visit a sling library but would be good to know any recommendations too. Many thanks

We went with a childminder which I am really happy with. We felt at 1 year she would get more attention than at a nursery and also she was a lot more flexible with pick up/drop off hours. My daughter has been with ours a year and is very happy. She gets to mix with a couple of children her own or close to her age and also with older children from her school run, so a good mix. We did also look at nurseries which we liked but felt the personal attention and not so regimented routine was better for her at her age (just under 1) she is now just over 2 and I would put her in a nursery now though won't be as very happy where she is!

I went to a grammar school and not one of my friends/fellow class mates had tutoring. I thought the idea was the test was more of an aptitude test and an essay which could not be learned or practised as such. We had a few mock papers in class and I remember buying a practise book to do a few at home and that was it! Surely as other posters have said it should be a case of the naturally brighter children going. As much as I would like my child to go to a grammar school if she isn't bright enough I wouldn't want her to go there and struggle which would be no good for her. I would rather her be in a school where she felt confident and capable amongst her peers.

I had my own room whilst giving birth (standard as far as I was aware) and after I was in a ward with 6 others mums but as I had to stay in a week after 4/5 days they kindly gave me my own room. Cannot praise the midwives and the care I got highly enough.

Thanks. Glad we are not alone! We went away last year and she was fine but so much younger! Glad to hear your LO has also been good since as I did joke that I wouldn't be wanting to go away again if we have this to come back to! We tried the CC waiting 5,10,15 mins to go back to her room and I am pleased to say she was asleep within 35 mins! She woke once about an hour later but a quick reassurance and she fell back to sleep within 5 minutes. I know it's not for everyone but I'm hoping it will work again tonight and in a few days she will be back to happy little sleeper!

We returned from our holiday about 10 days ago and since then our 19 month will not go to bed! She has always been an excellent sleeper, whereby we would watch In the Night Garden, take her upstairs to her cot and she would literally roll over and go to sleep. When we were on holiday we went out most evenings and she would fall asleep in her pushchair and we would transfer her to her cot when we cot in. Since we have been home she refuses to go to bed in her cot. She literally starts shaking her head and crying as we walk up the stairs and screams the place down. We have brought her routine back to how it was before we went on holiday, but she just goes mental! We have tried sitting next to her cot, rubbing the stomach, lying on the day bed in her room (so we create some distance) but the minute we move she opens her eyes and we are back to square one. it is like she is keeping herself half awake. LAst night she made herslef sick when my BF left the room. We have left her but she gets worse! I am stuck with what to do. When she was a baby I did the whole not looking, picking up, rocking etc and it worked, but at this age she is so much more aware and obviously stnads in her cot. I am wondering if anyone has any advice. I am thinking about the CC, leaving her for 5 mins, then 10 mins etc. HAs anyone done this with a LO similar age to mine and if so did youhave any success? Any other tips gratefully recieved as we want our evenings back and our happy little sleeper!

My brother, his wife and little girl also moved to Lindfield near Haywards Heath. Pretty village green, pond and shops and only 10 minutes to Haywards Heath. He is in one of the more modern houses and was very reasonably priced. Only 15 mins or so from the coast which is nice and 1.15 to ED by car!

Ive been to the Martinal twice and its lovely: a bit windy as you are right on the southern tip of Portugal. however dont let that put you off as it really only felt windy at one of the pools and kids didnt seem to mind! they also have a kids pool which is half outdoor and half undercover which is great for keeping them out of the sun. Townhouses are excellent all with one plus bedroom so great for the evening and most have gardens which is handy. There is a square in the evening where most families eat and there is are a few kids climbing frames/playhouses to keep them amused. Beach is lovely and you can walk out to the lighthouse or the village/town nearby along the beach quite easily. Hope that helps! I started introducing a bedtime routine and time quite early on, about 7/8 weeks. My daughter is now 8 months and a very good at going to bed with no fuss and a good sleeper. I didn't worry too much about nap times when she was small. I just let her sleep whenever. However I do go by a rough 2 hour routine whereby I try and put my LO down for a nap if she hasn't had one. Ive found this stops her getting over tired and then difficult to put down. Another friend did Gina Ford from day one so her little boy was in a set routine straight away!

I also was given an alarm as a child and found it didn't work because by the time it went off and woke me I'd already wet the bed! My mum used to get me up when she went to bed and I never drank anything after my tea (or too late)I gradually grew out of it and the doctor told me when I started my period this for some reason would likely stop it completely which it did, though by the then it was more rare anyway. I'm not sure if there is a 'cure' as such. Both my cousin and apparently my grandad wet their bed until they were older than I was. Sorry if its not much help. The best thing my mum ever did was not make a fuss about it and I therefore never felt it was embarrassing or something to be ashamed of! X

Congratulations! I also had my 1st baby at Kings last November and thought they were excellent, especially the midwives. I had to stay in for a week as she was premature and they were all fantastic. I was at DMC and didn't get the Lanes midwife where they come to hospital with you (I think that's right!) but I had the same mid-wife throughout who was lovely & supportive. I also second the being close to home as it meant my boyfriend could go home and pick up everything I needed throughout the week. He was also allowed to stay overnight (which I am not sure all hospitals offer) but he went home about midnight and came back first thing, which meant he could bring everything we needed which he couldn't have done had we been further away.

I just called the Keen Group who we always use. I didn't tell them I was in labour and the poor young taxi driver didn't quite know what to say apart from shouldn't I be in an ambulance!! Can't imagine it matters too much as Kings isn't that far anyway :)

I have a Baby Jogger City Mini and I got mine from john Lewis. Fits perfectly, you just put your hand under the footmuff to reach the handle to fold it up. I didn't like the Baby Jogger ones and am much happier with my brightly coloured one!

Thanks for all your replies. I am looking into finding a pool in ED, hydrotherapy if possible but not a necessity as long as they can turn up the temperature! If anyone knows of any pools available pls do PM me! Many thanks x
