Hi - our neighbour has asked us to sign a party wall agreement for a loft conversion (we're in a terrace). We are fairly relaxed about the work but feel we would like a surveyor to look over the plans and both properties before signing.

Can anyone recommend a surveyor to do this?

Does anyone know the cost (ball park)? We know the neighbour is responsible for the fee but we'd like to know what we're letting them in for...

Thanks

M.

i would recommend that if you really want your own surveyor that you suggest that your neighbour and you share one that you find, otherwise you run the risk of landing your neighbour with two bills potentially from two guys spinning out the work load. In my experience this can put a huge strain on neighbourly relations

Aristide makes a good point - you just both need to comfortable that the chosen surveyor has both of your best interests in mind.

We have used Ken Power ([email protected]) who was very good, and pro-active. I can't remember exactly what he charged sorry, but I do remember he was at the more reasonably end of the scale (and about half of what the council's surveyor charged - as the house next door is council-owned).
