We've had ours for 6 years and it is one of our essential and most used pieces of kitchen equipment. We use it mainly for smoothies, ice creams and grinding nuts and occasionally use it for soup (the Thai ginger one is my favourite). Before we got it I had no idea that it would become so important but I would find it difficult to be without it now.

I did quite a lot of research into the Vitamix as it's such an expensive piece of equipment. In the end I found this machine which is at least of the same quality as the Vitamix (probably better if comparing reviews and technical specs). It is much cheaper than the Vitamix so possibly an easier decision to make. We've had the Enpee for a few years now and would not be without it, it's absolutely fantastic. Super powerful, amazing piece of kit.

Just to add, I did go ahead with buying my Vitamix. When it first arrived, I was a bit disappointed as it looked like a standard, but very expensive blender and the recipe book didn't seem too exciting. I seriously thought that I had been "had" and was thinking I was going to have to send it back. However I made my first soup, Borscht, and was immediately converted: it was absolutely amazing, the texture was really smooth and creamy. Then I made a hollandaise sauce in five minutes, which was excellent. Then some green smoothies (nothing to throw away and very easily cleaned (unlike my juicer) and then some hummous.

I can easily see myself using this everyday, and I can see why it was so expensive. I think the number of times I use it will justify the cost. Sales pitch over, but thought I should answer my own question.
