Escher at Dulwich picture gallery - tickets?

Does anyone know for certain that this has sold out? Every time I phone I can't get through to anyone, and their Website does suggest the timed tickets have all gone, but didn't know if this was a bug!

Or, can people queue and hope for the best?

They keep back number of day tickets. We went last week and manage to get tickets for 4pm entrance. Think you are more likely to get later entrance. It's not a big space so always limited by number of tickets they can sell.

People who are 'Friends' of the Gallery will have untrammeled access - a lot of people joined up just to get to see the Ravilious exhibition - and I think have also done so for the Escher. Annual membership is good value, if art and an excellent local gallery are your bag. It's a good place to introduce visitors too as well - the permanent exhibition is manageably small but with top quality paintings. You can join and enter on-the-spot.

We went this afternoon on the off chance, signs outside saying "Totally Sold Out", quite a few other people had done the same and it was a case of "Oh bugger!" so walked into Herne Hill for a pint!! So not a totally disappointing afternoon!! Oh and it's sold out for next weekend too.

Extra tickets are available to buy in person at the gallery and they can be bought in advance. I went along on Friday afternoon and they had sold out for the rest of the day, but I was able to buy a couple of tickets for Tuesday.

Week days aren't a ticket issue looking at the website but getting the time off work is, it ends next Sunday and a bit short notice for a request-although I do suddenly seem to have serious tooth ache! ;-)

Note as well that Friends of the Gallery can take 1 guest each time - unlimited visits and there's a little taped off access point down the side of the main queue.

It's an excellent exhibition, well worth a visit.
