Hi - last night at Police Ward Panel the woman in charge of the Southwark Cemeteries came along to report that Honor Oak Crematorium and Cemetery Office had been broken in to and also vandalism and damage had occurred in the cemetery area recently. Whilst the meeting took place, Nunhead cemetery was itself burgled. The thieves apparently climbed over the walls, then sawed through bars outside a small toilet window within, and then nicked a laptop and stuff. They could only steal what they could then carry back over the walls. The police are concentrating on this problem and took prints and so on, but may I just make a plea for us all to be alert when going past such places? I once felt a tad embarrassed when one night going past a shop and realising there were people in there and a white van outside. But I reported it and was told by the owner it was a small party, but he thanked me anyway for being suspicious and calling it in.

So please - be aware. Thanks!

    • Oh yes, it could have been about there, I can't remember exactly. At one point there seemed to be a load of pizza places opening on NCR. I vaguely remember the one we used to use was put out of business by another one which opened. Wasn't Grace and Favour's food offering more of a tea shop at the back of the actual shop? If memory serves the owner, whose name escapes me now, was one of the earliest people I know to move to Hastings. Which must now be crammed with South East Londoners 🤣
