Sanne Panne
I really, really don't know what double buggy to get when baby 2 arrives and baby 1 is too small to always walk or always be on a buggy board. I got some great advice in a thread I posted earlier but would still like to see, feel and try a few different models.Isn't there supposed to be a massive buggy/pushchair warehouse somewhere in South London? Does anyone know where it is and what it's called? Pickle
There's a big Mothercare down on Purley Way which has lots of buggies, so that might be worth a try? randomv
Also on Purley Way (at the very top) is Baby Nesthttp://www.baby-nest.co.uk/Plenty of prams in-store to try and very friendly helpful staff. I got my car seat and second buggy from there and would definitely go back. Also my top tip, I got the internet price (slightly cheaper than in store and competitive with Kiddicare) in-store just by asking so well worth it!HTH Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8986-isnt-there-a-massive-buggypushchair-warehouse-somewhere-in-south-london/#findComment-272503 Share on other sites
The Nappy Lady
Couldn't you just hang around Peckham Rye Park Cafe one weekend and talk to a few parents / ask to try their buggys?!!I know it sounds a bit loony, but I'm sure they would be very understanding, and you may get some more honest opinions. I guess you may only get a limited selection though - lots of Phil and Teds and the odd McLaren double! One of the Mum's at school has just had triplets and I saw her buggy the other day - amazing - it is one of those I have posted about before, a double, with another seat that fits on the handle facing towards the parent...you can get the same thing as a single forward facing with the clip on seat at handle level (see link below). I think it is such a clever idea, all 3 babies looked really comfortable. Expensive though, shame a few others don't start developing similar at sensible prices. I guess for triplets it would be worth it though, can you imagine trying to get out the door with them! Eugh.http://www.gobubbago.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=31&products_id=26Edited to say, with shipping to UK it costs about ?600, which I don't think is bad really, given price of Phil & Teds, or things like Bugaboo's with the 'full kit'. Just watched the demo video and am so impressed, now think it is even more clever (with the storage that turns into a bag etc.). Almost worth having another baby for (?)Molly Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8986-isnt-there-a-massive-buggypushchair-warehouse-somewhere-in-south-london/#findComment-272545 Share on other sites
alieh
There is a baby shop called Tommy's on Rye Lane near Peckham Rye station that has tons of pushchairs in stock that you can try - all the brands, Bugaboo, Stokke, Maclaren, etc, etc.I trekked all the way into John Lewis to try pushchairs when I was looking, and wish I'd known about this place as it is right down the road and they actually have a bigger selection than John Lewis! Here's a map:http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/mapping/map.php?pc=SE15+4NB Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8986-isnt-there-a-massive-buggypushchair-warehouse-somewhere-in-south-london/#findComment-272634 Share on other sites
Sanne Panne
Thanks for all the tips so far! Might head down to Purley Way soon... and will definitely have a look in the shop on Rye Lane too. I remember spotting it ages ago (it's pretty close to the beginning coming from the Common) but forgot about it again. And Molly, I've been stalking plenty of parents, childminders and grandparents already - will keep doing it! Nothing like a first hand review. With the online reviews you never know if it's genuine or (in the case of a raving one) if it was written by an employee of the company. melbourne groover
We have one of the Adventure buggies everests that Molly is talking about. Def recommend - very comfy to push even with two in. Only downside is not v small to fold down not a chuck in the car and go type more of a semi dismantle... I use the Maclaren for out and about with the car and the abc for walking any distance. It almost eliminated the grizzly not wanting to walk not wanting to stand on the buggy board stage and now we just save the seat for desperate situations (or more often my shopping very handy...). The underneath basket is really roomy and you don't lose the basket as a footwell like the P and T which is quite handy. The Nappy Lady
Melbourne Groover - how do you find the 'sitting up' position? My friend is pregnant with her 2nd, and is going to have a gap of less than 2 years. Loves the look of this buggy, but is concerned that it is too reclined even in most sitting up position. She currently has a Mammas & Pappas, which is a heavy and clunky thing, but her daughter loves it because she can sit bolt upright (rather like they do in the Bugaboo when it is at its most upright).Edited to say - did you order it from the company in NZ and get it shipped over?Molly Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8986-isnt-there-a-massive-buggypushchair-warehouse-somewhere-in-south-london/#findComment-272718 Share on other sites
melbourne groover
Hmmm not been a problem at all. I used the pram with my daughter from about 18 mths and she was fine, then have used from birth with my son and he has been really happy. Is now 10 mths and doesn't have a prob with the angle. There is a bar you put across the front (like the P&T) which he uses to pull himself forward a bit if he can't see enough (he is quite nosy though...)I guess the only prob would be if the older one was needing to sleep in the top seat - although not sure but think they may have a reclining option available now.I got mine in NZ (through NZ ebay and had someone bring it over) but there was a UK supplier at one point. If anyone is interested probably worth giving them a call in NZ and they will fill in the details. I really like it, is lightweight, super easy to push, really good to load up (and I do...). A friend described it as the land rover version of phil and teds. A pretty straight forward piece of kit really. The Nappy Lady
Excellent thanks, will feed that back to her.Yes - they do a reclining top seat now too, that's what I saw with the newborn triplets. A big improvement I'd say, will still take them up to 4/5 years old....Mollyx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8986-isnt-there-a-massive-buggypushchair-warehouse-somewhere-in-south-london/#findComment-272784 Share on other sites
