Miscellaneous costs on a garage invoice

Can anyone explain why there is always a charge for miscellaneous costs on a garage invoice?! No other invoice from anywhere else has this listed!

This could be anything according to why your car was at the garage...

Time checking tyres and adjusting to correct pressure..

Topping up Coolant ..

Checking Break fluid levels ..

Checking Oil level, filters, Air filters . Hoses..

Replacing worn Nuts / Bolts / fixing Screws..

Mostly to prevent a second visit..

My mobile mechanic always lists in detail on the invoice exactly what he has done and bought.

If it was me, I'd be asking my garage what "mmiscellaneous" covered!

Are these the only places where the 'service team' desk has developed the 'we just make it up' culture of billing

Renault dealer of Beckenham were my worst contenders "It needs a new module" at ?600, but really it's the shocking build and wiring quality that's at fault, but we'll not mention that and the 'module' turns out to be fine after all
