I didn't have him at any of my births, but had the same reservations as have already been mentioned about male midwives in general. Once I'd met him I quickly changed my mind. He was so fab, calm, encouraging, supportive and humorous. I'd rather have had him than some of the dragons/ jobsworth-julies I've come across (mentioning no names -it was all a long time ago & I'm sure none of them practice round here any more!).
