Talking about light bulbs, is anyone using those ridiculous energy bulbs. They are hopeless . Also I cannot find any shops selling 100watt bulbs, Please dont start on about saving energy, etc etc. Maybe i,ll take notice when they turn all the lights out on public buildings, bridges, castles,Houses of Parliment, you get the picture. Also does anyone else hate those new dazzling car lights, another bad idea.
Our lights in the kitchen go a bit weird when the weather gets cold (something to do with condensation in the space between ceiling and roof) and this then causes other appliances to "spark" (apologies for the non technical terms). Could this be the problem for you, Goodliz?

We have had flickering lights since the powercuts that took place late last year (when certain roads would go without electricity, but others were fine) - but I get such varying excuses from the electricity company; it really does depend on who answers the phone.

Has anyone else called to report problems? If so, was a valid excuse given?

Last week I asked council officers to contact EDF Energy Networks about the variable electricity supply they are providing for SE22. I don't know how long it will take to get a response or how helpful it will be.

However, it is worth pointing out that EDF Energy Networks is licensed by Ofgem. When you have any problems you should report them to EDF customerr services 0800 028 0247. The more problems are reported the more likely they are to put effort into fixing them.

Ofgem have created Guaranteed Standard of Performance Regulations - 18+ hours you can claim ?50, every extra 12 hours ?25. Not much comfort if you go without electricity.

If your not happy tell EDF. If you're still not happy then contact Ofgem.

    • Thanks all!  KateS - boulangerie Jade is a nice cafe, but they don't do fresh cream cakes. Their eclairs are filled with patisserie cream (a kind of custard), not fresh cream. Azalea- thanks and I've been to Bunhead Bakery (a Palestinian bakery) in Herne Hill a few times. There's a nice chocolate bun they do, which is amazing when then sauce is warmed up. But I haven't seen any fresh cream things there, only white icing. Maybe it's only on a certain day.  And the last time I checked, Ayres bakers in Nunhead don't do fresh cream things. These are the kind of fresh baked goods I'm thinking of....
    • Warning to parents using the playground in Dulwich Park. My daughter and her friends found a bag of ‘crunchy powder’ in the children’s playground this morning around 11ish. They thought it was ‘popping candy’ and all tried some before seen with it. Request to parents using the playground - if you see plastics bags with suspect looking contents or powder on the floor in the playground or park: pick it up and throw it in the bin. Don’t walk past and think someone else will deal with it. The next person to walk by might be a child who could pick it up not understanding what it could be. Hopefully our daughter and her friends will be ok and it’s a lucky escape. But please be aware in case anyone else’s child may have found it before them.
    • I’m looking for some ply sheets, ideally 9mm or 12mm. It doesn’t have to look good. As long as it’s not rotten it’ll be fine. I’d like bigger sheets, but I’m open to whatever anyone’s got. If you can help, drop me a DM.  Cheers
    • the only known name is from that poster in the window where it says to email [email protected]. I thought that website might shed some light on who is creating the posters I hope whoever was attacked is doing ok, but agree there is something very off/vigilante-ish about all of this
