I actually managed to hit my savings target for 2009 - so have a more ambitious target for 2010 (gulp). Didn't quite manage to become fluent in French though (ahem). This year's resolutions are mostly about baby weight.

Beth - are you going to help me achieve this? :-)

I also hope everyone has a fab NYE and accomplishes all they want to in 2010. Nothing ventured etc...

Ah..a rather belated happy new year everyone! I am hoping for a better 2010 - 2009 didn't work out the way I was hoping! I have all the usual resolutions...and need things to look forward to.

BUT - I'm not happy about this weather! We are back from a lovely trip over christmas and it's all a bit of a shock! Not a good start to the year..

    • I thought the building was connected to the mosque in some way. If it is owned by someone else, then I apologise for making assumptions. It doesn't look to me like the awning is falling off? It's hanging quite crookedly, but it seems to be attached at both sides? But that photo must have been taking some time ago, judging by the skip and its contents, so maybe the situation has changed?
    • Never. Never. Never again. Had a really awful experience with them caused by the owner.
    • And that fair funding review is crucial if we are ever going to tackle the divide between London, and regions that have been in extended decline for some time. London has its fair share of deprivation - 1 in 25 according to data (the Southeast of the country is 1in 33) but has many avenues to money from wealth, higher band Council Tax revenue, etc. Go to say, the Northwest or North East, and deprivation there is 1 in 5. Councils struggle to just stay on top of essential services, which face higher demand proportionally because of that higher deprivation. That is why there needs to be some adjustment in funding, addressing need vs purely population size. So McAsh's objection to this make no sense for someone who was a member of the Labour Party and a Union activist.
