Hi Admin,

I notice that the front page regularly shows thousands of posts as "new" when in fact only a few are. I hope this isn't a problem caused trying to accommodate my request to have a global reset of new posts. I find now that it is easier to reduce the size of the page so that you can see it all on the screen and then click all the reset buttons in turn. If trying to do it in normal size it resets to the top of the page so you can't see the bottom ones and you have to scroll down to every button which then resets it to the top of the page again. Once all new posts are cleared return to normal size.

Hi Admin,

I was referring to this scenario this morning. I cleared all the new posts yesterday and today it is showing every thread and post ever made as new. Screenshot attached. Does this happen when a PC is rebooted do you happen to know or when any cookies are removed. Thanks for your hard work in keeping the forum going.

Firefox recently began reminding users of login connections that are insecure, ie those that use http rather than https. The only one I've been told of so far is here: 'form action="http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/login.php"', in the module of the same name. Worth a quick edit?
Thanks Admin. I thought it heartless to simply refer to the problems about travel without recognising the horrific event. The reason for the detail was that the National rail website showed very confusing information this afternoon. At least people are now aware of the problems and to check regularly and that London Bridge will not be a walking option for most of the morning rush hour.

A reminder in case you were still considering it but forgot, Admin.

Dear Admin,

now I'm sure you would clamp down on racist remarks if they were to appear on a thread. Of that I have no doubt. Recently a remark appeared in a thread which frankly appeared to be just that. However, not wanting to jump to an incorrect conclusion I asked the poster to clarify what he meant. He didn't. In fact he stated that I and one other Paddy (my term not his) had a sense of humour bypass.

This being a possibility I 'reported' the original post not by means of a complaint, but as a request to you and or the moderators to examine it and advise what I was missing. I didn't receive any reply. This was disappointing as now I don't know if I've been insulted twice or I really don't have a very developed sense of humour.

Either way it's a lose lose situation.

Hi

If a comment is stirring up racial hatred or is exceptionally vindictive etc then we will act appropriately

If you are asking us for an opinion about whether a comment someone has made is racist, and you're the recipient of the remark then I would assume it is not.

When you report a message you should see a message saying we can't always reply, and we don't as it can be a bit of a pain but we do read them. You haven't been insulted by us, we're just busy. I've just found this Sense of Humour Indicator in my drawer, let's see if works:

1 of 2) What's the most common time to visit the dentist?

Tooth-hurty.

2 of 2) What bees produce milk?

Boobies

One flaw with is is that I can't tell from here what the result is.

Thanks for your reply Admin. Would you describe the following as racist or funny or neither?

"If you've ever tried to do a deal with an Irishman over a car, tractor, house, horse or gram of speed, you'll be familiar with all the posturing, bullying, leaving the room, coming back in again, foul language, threats of violence and general wailing and gnashing of teeth with which it is accompanied.

What you don't do is quickly agree a price, shake hands and leave the room happy... either of you.

There's a very long way to go yet"

    • I've found it quite a useful thread.  Apparently protein powders are toxic. Not that I have ever, or will ever, try them.   https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/the-hidden-dangers-of-protein-powders
    • Personally can’t stand carpets however where I am renting has carpet in  bedroom and hall. Not great quality and certainly not cleaned. Was  in B & M recently and looking at carpet shampoo -wow got a can costing £2.99 to test.. No scrubbing as others seemed to imply. Spray, leave and poof - smells great, no dabbing or scrubbing and c leaving rubbish. First to admit is only temp solution but no need to hire carpet cleaner instantly  or pay for a company to come and deal with professionally. For 3/6 months happy to have used this - Have a carpet cleaner and in a month or so plan to use it.    Buy a steam cleaner for floors - not expensive - much better than mop and bucket and more hygienic all round. Can pick up second hand ones on e bay.
    • Is this a true story? What protein powder causes kidney damage? Why didn't you cite an article? I shop at H&B, mostly to buy their castor oil, however, I would recommend researching any product beforehand. They do have very informative articles on their website. To be honest, I don't see the point of this post. You could have just taken the product back for a refund or complained in store and in writing.
    • Well the Italian on Lordship Lane  recommended here was delicious.  Thank you so very much -my party were extremely pleased with ambience, location and lovely food plus puddings to die for. They are also on Deliveroo.  Will certainly be back when I am back in 6 weeks time. Went past Love Dulwich at lunchtime on my way to Italian - only a party of 2 - food might be excellent but decided to give it a miss - wasn’t impressed with manager who admitted he had only been there 2 weeks. Might be being totally unfair but doubt it, as no comments since about a month ago from Pugwash.
