Then join "Friends & Neighbours" at their weekly Tuesday Coffee Mornings @ Lordship Lane Baptist Church (LLBC)

(10am -12.30pm via the entrance at the corner of Goodrich Road).

Hi you Lovely East Dulwich Residents & Friends further afield,

A group of local volunteers are running a weekly Tuesday coffee morning at LLBC for their local community. They offer a cup of tea/coffee, some cakes/biscuits and a chat/some board games. As "All are welcome" they have a range of people attending of varying ages. They do however ask parents to be responsible and monitor their children. I joined them on a Tuesday morning, when they had the local Fire Brigade in, giving a presentation on "Home Safety". It was great - I do love uniforms!

They run a clothes bank and plan to do various other activities such as a Knitting & crocheting club/"Film Tuesdays"/Silver Surfers etc. to engage the people attending.

I love a good imitative and I know they will welcome your help/donation (see thread in the "wanted section"). I thank you on their behalf for this in advance. As I can't volunteer at present with them I have become a "Monthly Friend" of "Friend & Neighbours" and will help with their publicity. Can anyone print their flyers/do a banner?

Let's make a difference together in 2016!

They desperately need pushchairs. Three ladies who attend have given birth in the last

2 weeks so they have given 2 baby carriers but are still looking for pushchairs....

Anyone out there with a pre-loved pushchair that they no longer need?

Sorry to hijack your thread but if anybody who is feeling a bit lonely, or bored, or whatever and is of a slightly crafty persuasion then who not come and join us, your local stitch and bitch group, at the Prince Albert on Bellendon Road tonight (and every Tuesday from 7:30) for a bit of yarn based fun. We always like to meet new people, we can even teach you to knit (or crochet, if you think that might be your poison) if you don't already know how.

Au'Lait didn't know you could hijack the post of others like this (LOL).......

But now you have what about offering your services to them? They are looking for able knitters (or crocket, if you think that might be your poison). They will definitely be stitching but not too sure about the bitching, during their yarn based fun!!

Unfortunately the only liquid poison might be their teas and coffees, depending on who is making it.

Would love to see you there next Tuesday. They always like to meet new people.

so sorry digicell407, springflower99 and I have done a back-door deal and I've taken most or all of the items for our son, but we both love the idea of the coffee morning and are planning on putting in an appearance in the near future. apologies again but i can promise that the clothing have gone to a good home and we will get much use out of them :-)

It does not bother me that this post gets hijack or people do back-door deals as long as others benefit in a positive way from it. Isolation and loneliness is so prevalent in all areas of our society so if people want

to join Au'Lait in the pub for a drink & chat that's great and ashcloude if you needed the clothes for your

son I am happy you were able to have them. No worries you are both welcome and I am glad this post is helping a

few more people.

I was told that the coffee morning this week went well and it was very humbling to hear about a lady who only had house slippers to wear on the streets as she had no money to buy shoes. She was given some shoes along with clothes and was very happy. A lot of baby clothes, jumpers, cardigans, coats (even a pram)have also been given away this week. Well done "Friends & Neighbours" you are doing a fab job.

Thank you so much to all the wonderful people who have been able to donate and attend the coffee morning. Sometimes

charity does start from home and within the community, which we call home. When do we stop and say hi to someone in the street? What would you do if you see someone crying in the street? Sometimes we get so busy with life, work and our personal issues we do not see the need of others around us. Smile and people might think you are bonkers but most will smile back!

If you have any clothes or prams that you would like to donate, let me know and I will arrange a pick up if you can't pop into the coffee morning yourself. But why not pop along for a cup of coffee and have a chat. You can also see for yourselves what they are doing. All are welcome after all.

    • I’m currently conducting exploratory research into menstrual health education in UK secondary schools and would really value the insight of PSHE leads, Heads of Year, or pastoral staff.    The research aims to understand:   How the menstrual cycle is currently taught within the RSHE framework Where schools feel confident — and where there may be gaps Whether students are taught and  asking questions around the full menstrual cycle, symptoms, wellbeing and conditions such as PMS/PMDD or endometriosis How schools support students in feeling empowered to understand their bodies and seek help appropriately Whether education around nutrition, lifestyle, and menstrual wellbeing is currently addressed   The long-term goal is to explore whether there is a need for additional, age-appropriate, medically informed support on the menstrual cycle.  I’m not selling a programme and there is no obligation beyond a 30 minute informal chat online (Unpaid). All conversations will be confidential and used only to inform the research. If you work in a UK secondary school and would be willing to share your perspective, I would be extremely grateful to hear from you.
