The Multiple Myrtle Mysteries: A Dulwich Time Travel Project

Story Gathering Workshop

When: Saturday the 27th of February from 12.30 to 3pm

Where: Dulwich Library, 368 Lordship Lane, London SE22 8NA

Refreshments will be provided.

Join Simon Ryninks and Emma Tompkins for a fun and informal story gathering workshop and become part of the The Dulwich Time Travel Project.

We are hosting a series of workshops to coincide with the performance of The Multiple Myrtle Mysteries as part of Dulwich Park Fair and Dulwich Festival 2016. We want to hear the local stories that might not make it into the history books, the personal tales of what?s happened in Dulwich over the years, whether they are funny, fated or poignant.

The workshop is an opportunity for anyone interested in getting involved with the performance to hear about the project and share with us the stories they have of Dulwich and the surrounding area. We will be using fun and informal theatre exercises to explore the history and memories of Dulwich. This is a great opportunity if you?re interested in performance, if you?d love a captive audience to tell your memories to or if you want to meet some more of your local community and get involved with the show.

We will take inspiration from the stories you share to form the script and plot for some short films which will be filmed locally and screened as part of a live interactive show during Dulwich Park Fair. The Multiple Myrtle Mysteries follows the intrepid time travelling scientist as she travels back into Dulwich?s past. The stories and characters she bumps into is up to you!

If you?ve lived or worked in Dulwich and would like to share your experiences and contribute to what promises to be a show the likes of which Dulwich has never seen before then come join the fun.

To express interest please email [email protected], it isn?t necessary to do so but we?d love to have an idea about numbers as we?d like to provide some refreshments for the event.

The Multiple Myrtle Mysteries has been created by The Milo Wladek Co in collaboration with Southwark Presents & Dulwich Festival, supported with the generosity of Southwark Council and Arts Council England. Emma and Simon are both experienced community theatre makers having worked with the Young Vic and Old Vic?s Outreach and Community projects respectively.

    • You are again misinformed. The Highway Code is also clear about clothing.   It is here. Section 59 Section 59 of the Highway Code explains the appropriate clothing cyclists should wear in order to make it easier for other road users to spot them and help to keep them protected in the case of a collision. Cyclist clothing: Helmet – Your cycle helmet should conform to the current regulations, be the correct size for your head and be securely fastened. Appropriate fitted clothing – Your clothing should be tight fitted to prevent it getting tangled in the chain or wheel of your bicycle. Light clothing – Light and fluorescent clothing will help you to stand out in daylight and poor light. Reflective accessories – Strips on the helmet, as well as armbands and ankle bands will help you be seen in the dark. and  Section 60 This section of the Highway Code is all about cyclists’ lights and reflectors. At night cyclists must have their white front and red rear lights lit. Their bicycles must also be fitted with a red rear reflector and amber pedal reflectors. White front reflectors and spoke reflectors can also increase your visibility to other road users. Flashing lights are permitted but cyclists riding in areas without street lighting should use a steady front lamp instead.
    • I am aware. You didn’t read my post properly: I was pointing out that people can wear whatever clothes they feel comfortable in. And that a moped isn’t a bicycle.
    • Earl A…… You are misinformed. There is a legal obligation for cyclists to have front and rear lights. Rule 60 of The Highway Code
    • Angelina, I think you have identified a genuine issue and I have noted similar. If cycling, in its various forms, continues to grow then I think safety education will have to somehow be addressed.
