We have just had our second flat tyre on our car in a week. We live on Barry Road and have heard that other people round here have been getting regular punctures. Has anyone else been experiencing this? If we can find out who else is having this problem we might be able to figure out who or what is causing it.
It may not be being 'caused' intentionally - but builders are notorious about not being careful with building materials - allowing nails etc. to lie in the street, so if there has been building or repair work going on locally a number of vehicles could have picked up punctures, effectively accidently. It's when valves are tampered with, or tyres slashed that you can be immediately concerned about intent. Additionally, and perhaps particularly relevant recently, pot-holes can cause tyre bursts, and many of the roads locally have suffered from frost/ snow damage which has raised the incidence of this problem.

Puncture complaints in Barry rd seemed to increase around the time the tyre bay at Turners was opened,

only a cynic would.

Put them together in the same sentence.

Purely coincidental they must have done market research, realized there is a higher proportion of punctures in the vicinity, so we must open a tyre bay, how fortunate that business seems to be flattening out.

Interstingly, I live very close to the tyre place and have noticed a few, very long (new) nails nearby. However, I used to get punctures regularly and haven't had any since they opened up (tempting fate now). Although. I did have by car broken into and completely cleared out in Tyrell Rd directly opposite a couple of months ago.

    • As I may have said before those that knew him  at DC who I have met sat similar, but not sure if they are quoting the above contacts or first hand experience.  And of course that he has changed the pronunciation of his surname
    • A detailed account of Nigel Farage's alleged racist and neofascist behaviour while he attended Dulwich College appears in the Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/ng-interactive/2025/nov/18/deeply-shocking-nigel-farage-faces-fresh-claims-of-racism-and-antisemitism-at-school Obviously for most the relevant question is if these allegations are true, then is Farage a suitable person for public office? But for Dulwich local yokels (and tbh anyone that's already formed a firm opinion about Farage), the more interesting question might be whether Dulwich College incubated and tolerated pupils' racist and bigoted behaviour at the time? After all, the allegations include that NF and a number of other boys sang songs about gassing Jews and engaged in other bigoted behaviour, that teachers were either present or aware of that behaviour, and that nothing was done. It's remarkable that pieces of the reporting abour 40 years ago mirror some of the allegations about Dulwich College's reaction to some pupils' alleged sexist and predatory behaviour 4 years ago. Minimisation, dismissal, wilful blindness... https://www.thetimes.com/uk/crime/article/i-warned-head-of-dulwich-college-about-abusive-boys-five-years-ago-xkxgjftk8 https://www.theguardian.com/education/2021/mar/26/dulwich-college-head-warns-pupils-over-culture-protest
    • Hi, we've got a random cat at tonight's game. Anyone own it?
    • Saied (Dulwich Eco Gardening) said he’d give us our garden back and he did. He cleared the overgrown front and back. It was bigger than we remember.    He doesn’t do hard landscaping on the scale we needed but recommended someone (Kris 07938 204480). He flagged and fenced it.    Once we decide what plants/pots we want we’ll have Saied back to do that. Can’t wait for next spring to use the garden.
