My 21-month-old son won't stay in his Grobag any more so I was thinking of getting him a duvet and a pillow. He's still in his cot so I was going to get a cotbed duvet. Someone told me you shouldn't go above 4 togs if it's for a cotbed in case of over-heating and other websites say not to give them any duvet or pillow until they're 2 because of the same reason. Is it ok to get him a 4 tog one at this age? Don't want to be worrying that he's going to boil alive!

I'm fairly certain that at 21 months you'll be fine.

We've recently bought a duvet and pillow from Mothercare for our son (3) and the boxes for both said not suitable before 12 months. The duvet is 4 tog, he used to sleep in 2.5 tog Grobags, and we've had to start putting an extra layer on him under his PJ's as he complains he's cold, which has never happened before!

I'm sure you'll be fine. If your son is all over the place in his cot and won't stay under the duvet you can also consider these polar fleece sleepsuits until he's bigger. They're expensive but really good and they're lined with cotton and toddlers can walk around in them quite well.

    • Is Dell Autos closing down completely or just moving? For whatever it's worth, for MOTs I've had good recent experience with The Test Centre in Deptford. They only do MOTs so they don't have any particular incentive to fail you and they usually have same day appointments. Open 7 days a week and late. https://www.thetestcentre.co.uk/our-test-centres/deptford-branch/ Obviously you would still need a "normal" garage to do servicing and repairs etc.
    • So what is the issue? You want compensation for the loss of value, or you want to expedite the matter?
    • No. What happened? I actually thought, considering it was what we used to call Guy Fawkes Day last night, the loud noises from  fireworks ended remarkably early. About 9pm? Maybe I just fell asleep and didn't hear any later ones. Do people actually burn Guys any more? Apart from at places like Lewes, where I believe they still have Bonfire Societies and burn effigies of various political figures etc.
    • The accompaniment to our "Christmas Pudding" aka Nothing-Whatever-Like-A- Christmas-Pudding last year  at The Cherry Tree was "brandy butter ice-cream." If it had ever been near any brandy, the brandy must have been waved in its direction from a very great distance. Same with butter. The ice cream tasted like bog standard "vanilla" from a catering tub. At least it did bear some resemblance to ice cream. Whereas the "Christmas Pudding" bore no resemblance whatever to any Christmas Pudding I have ever seen or tasted in my many  decades of seeing and tasting Christmas Puddings. Oh, and Cinzano Bianco. Bleurgh. My sister used to drink that. 🤢
