A new engineering club called the Workshop of Innovation is starting up next Summer term designed for 7-9 and 10-13.

The idea is to help children understand how science is used in the real world by looking at the principles of science through building.

We will be learning robotics by building and then programming robots using Lego robotics software - WeDo Lego for the 7-9 group and the hugely popular EV3 Mindstorms for 10-13.

Using recyclable materials, the young engineers will have the opportunity to build structures and mechanisms and carry out experiments with racing cars, roller coasters and rockets. They will also explore their creative side by making short films using Stop- Motion animation.

The children will learn how to work as a team, explore their creativity and develop their problem solving skills.

To celebrate the clubs's launch, a two half-day workshop will take place on the 29th and 30th March and will hopefully provide a taster of what to expect in the club.

If your child has an interest in crafts and science or simply would like to explore something new this Easter, bring them along to this very exciting drop-in session!

Morning Pablogrande, the Easter workshops are actually taster days for the weekly summer term club that will be beginning after the Easter break - will be posting more info on that shortly. The club's website and emailing list are also in the works and should be ready to launch in a few days so in the mean time, I'm happy to respond to any queries via this thread or alternatively on the number used to make club bookings provided on the flier. I hope that helps...
  • 2 weeks later...

As promised the website is up and running at the following address: www.workshopofinnovation.com

There are details about the workshops and also details about the Junior Engineer weekly program that will begin after the Easter break.

There are a few spaces still available in the Master Engineers program so book now to avoid disappointment.
