Personally I doubt that any architectural debate is likely to hold things up any more than they are already.

Whatever is to happen with the existing building cannot happen until the existing health services have moved out and according to the Charter that won't be "until 2019 at the earliest."

I have no problem with heritage architecture. I just don't think its appropriate here and I really don't like the way that all of the so-called conceptual plans only include options for retaining the "chateau" and no alternatives were put forward.

On a different tack, the land given over to the medical centre seems small by comparison. Given recent reports there are between 1200 and 1700 heads per local GP, one wonders if enough thought has been given to this aspect? Our population is growing, hence the need for more schools but that also creates a demand for medical facilities.

Newton, I'm really sympathetic to people who experience lots of parking pressure/traffic on their road (I do too) but if this school is for local children, won't most of them walk? And if not won't they be old enough to travel on public transport without a parent? This is a genuine question - it would be interesting to know stats of how pupils of the current Charter get to school.

    • I have never used AI in my life. It's just notes from my forthcoming monograph on light industry in Dulwich and Camberwell 1879-1946 (dates chosen for obvious reasons).
    • Thank you, this really made me chuckle. It's like you met my brother as he would be the one taking more than his share. Plus the 'pikey' chutney is a winner. Unusual as in can't be identified??? Sadly I'm not the host otherwise I would definitely do that I regularly shop in the Cheese Block and am a fan. But as people have pointed out, there is no cheese shop that charges less based on bulk, so Aldi unusual cheeses may be what the familam receive! Yay, so I can get discounted mouse nibbled cheese still! Oooo, now I do love a Stinking Bishop. It actually offends my stepmum by it's stinkiness but luckily she is not one of the attendees at this particular gathering.  This is blooming genius. It's actually my partner who has the biggest issue with buying in plastic so I will have to hide the wrappers from him!
    • I like the look of SD's Sweet and Sour chicken. It's a really good dish when made freshly and well. I'll need to try it. Sad that Oriental Star and Lucky House by Dulwich Library both closed at a similarish time. They were decent, reliable, "British Chinese" takeaways.
