Front garden quotes

Hi,

Based just off Lordship Lane and looking to renovate my front garden.

I've had a few quotes from companies specialising in front gardens in London, but these came out much higher than expected. I wandered whether anyone on the forum could recommend a local builder / landscape gardener - either to tackle the whole job or parts of it?

Rough job spec would be:

- Removal of concrete path and some levelling / steps required

- Dark slate slabs (except for path)

- Rebuild brick wall with pillars (potentially reclaimed bricks)

- Black wrought-iron style railings and gate

- Black and white mosaic path

Many thanks in advance!

We are trying to do this ourselves given the cost- with the help of a handyman. I have no idea how it will turn out. A large part of the cost is the cost of the tiles themselves. We found what we wanted locally and then ordered the tiles online saving about ?400.

    • An improvement but I wonder if a patient can also call ( or walk-in) no to make an appointment in advance or just via the app.  I still want to know about their *rule* that you can only request a referral on two particular days in the week.
    • I find this happens more and more these days - especially on Sunday evenings or early in the week. I just no longer believe advertised opening hours in bars and restaurants I find it annoying and I understand Sue's annoyance But as Spartacus' excellent post makes clear - it's not really any of the business fault these days. Overheads are astronomically higher and I'm sure they would like to have a full restaurant and keep place open. Customer behaviours has changed and loads of places are having to be nimble and do the best they can. That won't always align with what I want. Sign of the times   (sidenote: no,  Brexit didn't cause this. But as with everything in GB, it's there as an additional factor and makes it that bit worse than other countries face with similar post-pandemic challenges)
    • Wondered if anyone knew if the Hillsborough Road school restriction will be lifted during the road works, as access in and out is going to be difficult from Glengarry on to EDG.
    • Ditto - he did a good job for me in the past. I managed to speak to him recently for a quote but despite many messages, he never called back…
