  1. Hi all We are in a bit of pickle as our nominated builder on our project is now proven difficult to get hold of and I think this is a bad sign. I would therefore like to obtain alternatives - we have submitted planning permission and have building regs and all necessary approvals save for party wall (which we are currently sorting out). Are there any recommended builders who can start in August? It would be nice to have a shortlist of names. I would also like to consider an interior decorator as well. many thanks
  2. I am having the same problem. Let me know if any luck.
  3. I am looking for a nanny for my ten month old son from January 2018 (he will be thirteen months old then) three days a week, 10 hours a day from 8 am to 8 pm, Tuesday to Thursday and possible pick ups or baby sitting between 6 pm and 8 pm on Mondays and Fridays (as needed). The position can be live in or live out. All checks required and experience with babies necessary. No smokers please. We are located in East Dulwich and because of the hours I work I do not need a nanny share or someone who will work with her own child.
  4. The Castle? Are you having a laugh?
  5. Why dont you try Platform 1? They would love your business.
  6. I need a mobile beauty therapist to do take off shellac on my nails and to shape my brows. Please PM.
  7. Interested but are you accepting offers. Can see equivalent prices on ebay.
  8. Service is horrible at Le Chardon- hope it improves because the food wasn't bad.
  9. Is this still for sale? Can you advise year of purchase and reason why it is for sale?
  10. I write this post with a heavy heart because the last "gardeners" who showed up came recommended on this board but showed up without tools, disappeared every five minutes for a smoke and we had to tell them they should leave as soon as possible because it all became too much. Charlatans! Does anyone have a recommendation for a gardener or someone who does reasonably priced gardening work? We need a couple of small bushes cut back and the grass mowed. Our garden is a small one in SE22.
  11. Danny Do you come with your own tools or do you require tools? We need some trees cut back and the lawn mowed.
  12. Hi! I forgot to respond to your message. Feeling a little bit better now post first trimester. Also very excited about a Christmas baby in our group. Shall we organise a coffee soon? Has anyone signed up to NCT or the posher alternative? I would like to know which is best.
  13. Hi all, Kim here and I am due on 3 December. First baby as well and hubbie and I live in East Dulwich. Looking forward to any winter baby meetups. Is there something for the dads as well? x
  14. Hello all, We are local and would like to know where we can hire scaffolding for this weekend at a reasonable rate. No more than two days. Many thanks.
  15. I hope that it is just the euros- it is definitely a lot more noisy and the clientele seems to have changed. I accept that we chose to live near a pub but loud swearing and shouting at almost midnight for hours is not what we signed up for.
  16. Thanks to everyone who replied to my thread on carpets. I used to lurk a lot but this is super helpful. We are now looking at metal railings for outdoors. To keep costs down, we are looking at buying two metal railings from Wickes and then getting them soldered together to the length we require since obtaining the length bespoke is working out quite expensive. How we want it to look is attached. Does anyone local do this kind of metalwork and can quote us for it? Please do PM me. Alternatively, if any local metal workers can provide the railings (I am actually not too keen on the Wickes version so it would be nice to have a range), please let me know.
  17. Thank you cheff and daveR very useful. I have just checked the prices online and I can find one of the carpets for at least ?10 cheaper although the other one I have chosen comes up more expensive. I will try EJ carpets this weekend. Will pm once I veify the dimensions of the rooms.
  18. We are trying to do this ourselves given the cost- with the help of a handyman. I have no idea how it will turn out. A large part of the cost is the cost of the tiles themselves. We found what we wanted locally and then ordered the tiles online saving about ?400.
  19. Thanks so far- I will email Jim- its a local carpet shop but I really like them so they will remain unnamed.:) I loved the service and would love to support local but there comes a point when the pennies need to count themselves. At the moment, the carpets are working out more expensive than my newly installed hardwood flooring which is insane.
  20. I received a quote for carpets and fitting- 2 bedrooms and stairs (4 half stairs, Victorian terrace)that came up to ?2200- the carpets are around the ?28-?30 per sq meter mark. Is this a reasonable quote? It still seems a bit on the expensive side to me- I was expecting to come in at about ?1200 to be honest.
  21. I would like to thoroughly recommend Crystal Nails. The salon is bright and clean and they offered me a lovely cup of tea. Unlike many of the other places I have visited on Lordship Lane, where the polish chipped after a couple of wears, I received a top notch pedicure (with hot towel and a massage) and my non Shellac polish is still as good as new one week later! The prices are reasonable- and there was virtually no waiting time.
  22. I will be sad to see it go. Had my first date with my now husband there. It was my go-to place for tea and cake but now I have started frequenting Toasted and Boulangerie Jade. I do have to say that service has gone downhill. I have posted this before but the cutlery she was bringing to us fell on the floor and the waitress asked my guest whether he would like another one instead of replacing it. The same floor with dogs and pram wheels and dusty feet! Having said that, I liked the selection of cakes and the coffee and the pancakes!
  23. Chandelier is a favourite but I was rather put off by the waitress dropping a knife and asking my friend if he would like it replaced as opposed to replacing it by default. It fell on the floor! Blue Mountain is another recent favourite. Love the avocado on toast with a side of plantains.
