Junction on Underhill/Upland Road

Does anyone else find this mini roundabout junction really dangerous? Especially when crosing from Upland road. People don't realise it is a roundabout and don't stop or give way to the right. I cycle mainly and have had some near misses beacuse people don't stop. I have notified the council that something needs to be done but as yet no response.

It's because they're not looking for you, and there are cars parked right up to the junction, so even if they are, they can't see you. Looking at the layout (in pic), double-yellows for at least three car lengths would solve it. And the existing white lines are faded.

Or install an American-style four-way stop sign junction.

I live close to the roundabout, and have come to expect that people won't observe the normal roundabout rules - especially when I'm driving up Underhill Rd and turning right into Upland... I don't think I've ever had a car coming down Underhill give way as they should.

It's fine when you're used to it, but I agree it's dangerous for anyone who doesn't use it regularly. Especially bad round school run times when pedestrians are thrown into the mix.

I live round the corner, drive and cycle regulary and can't say I have encountered any real issues with this junction. Maybe I have just been lucky... I certainly don't think a 4 way stop sign junction is warranted.

The times I drive I rarely see much traffic coming from either end of Upland Road.

    • We had one that projected stars and played lullabies. It was a soft toy bee with a hard plastic back. I know we used it but can’t recall how effective it was.  What was brilliant was the Lulla sleep doll which has a heart beat sound. That was a critical sleep aid for the first couple of years.
    • Hmmm, millions of animals are killed each year to eat in this country.  10,000 animals (maybe many more) reared to be eaten by exotic pets, dissected by students, experimented on by cosmetic and medical companies.  Why is this any different? Unless you have a vegan lifestyle most of us aren't in a position to judge.  I've not eaten meat for years, try not to buy leather and other animal products as much as possible but don't read every label, and have to live with the fact that for every female chick bred to (unaturally) lay eggs for me to eat, there will be male that is likely top be slaughtered, ditto for the cow/milk machines - again unnatural. I wasn't aware that there was this sort of market, but there must be a demand for it and doubt if it is breaking any sort of law. Happy to be proved wrong on anything and everything.
