music event peckham Rye Park

Recommended Posts

Anyone else unable to think because of the volume of music at the adventure playground, Peckham Rye Park ?

I have rung the noise team and been told that as this is a planned event the DJ can play his music at what ever level he wishes and that they are not going to do anything about it. I have been told that there have been a number of other complainants

All that I have been told is that if it continues at the same level at 20.00 they, the noise team that is, may come out although I know in advance that they won't find it at a nuisance level.

I will be writing letters of complaint to the manager of the playground, Peckham Rye S.N.T, local councillors etc etc and want other signatories from those disturbed. Any takers?

Wow how miserable are some people.

I took my daughter there to today to celebrate a late Jamacian Independence Day.

I did not find the music as loud as you are saying it was. It's only once every couple of years they have it there, also all the money they make from it goes straight back into the community.

Also they were celebrating Usain Bolt's gold medals. If this happened every weekend I could understand, as I would also be annoyed, but come on it might not be music of your taste but 8 hours through the day of loud music and you want to take it as far as to complain to the manager.

I don't believe I mentioned the style of music, this is your assumption. It is entirely about volume. You wouldn't have found it annoying because you went there to be within the event, including the music volume.

When pressed, I was told by the environmental enforcement officer I spoke to on the telephone, that there were over 35 complaints from residents who were not forewarned or consulted at all. There is an arrogance about it in my opinion from the event organisers.

There is no sound insulation at all at the boundary of the venue and no consideration is made for the local residents. The volume is way in excess of what would be a statutory nuisance ordinarily.

Like the DJ today, I also intend to have my voice heard and if anyone else wants to put pen to paper too, Please PM me.

Every couple of years! No. The last event that was far too loud from that place was on the 29/4/12 and again on the 22/4/12 then one about 2 weeks ago.

Why are you complaining about this at 4.45 pm?

It's not exactly late is it?

Live & let live.

Live and let live, what does that mean in an unbalenced equation?

It means chill out & put up with the inconvenience!

If it carries on past midnight, you have reason to complain, but at 4.45pm?

Enjoy the music & feel happy for them, that they have a lovely sunny day to enjoy their celebration.

Does this happen on a regular basis? I think not. So why moan about a one-off event?

Did you experience it as a resident and from what vantage?

It actually wasn't that big of an event. It was only in the adventure playground. A DJ, a BBQ, face painting, bouncy castle and ice cream van.

It was planned to finish at 8, but I don't know if it went on later than planned.

It was a lovely day and the children enjoyed it very much.

Sorry your child was sick but I'm sure a bit of outside noise at a reasonable time does not harm nobody.

Well to be fair to Pipsky I could clearly hear the music and MC from inside our Tenants Hall so yes, I have to agree it was probably louder than it needed to be to cater for the event. We have fun days etc from time to time around our Tenants Hall and if we had our sound system and DJs at that noise level we would certainly be subjected to lot's of complaints. Just because it's a one off event doesn't mean there should be a lack of consideration for the impact on local residents.

    • Hello! We need a few product shots for our new personalised baby bear hooded jumpsuit (pictured).  We'd just need around an hour or so of your (and your baby's!) time.  In return, we'll hand-felt your little one's name onto a jumpsuit to gift you at the end of the shoot as well as provide a £30 thank you payment. If you're interested please either reply to this thread or drop me a text on 07877 734099 to arrange a mutually convenient time. Photo shoot to take place in East Dulwich at our residential address. Thanks, Sam
    • Many thanks for your detailed reply. Our floor was originally concrete too - had the floorboards down for years now and need a change. thanks again
    • Although I think you're right to address your concerns about what you perceive as an attack on your business.  I do feel I need to respond to some of your comments;  I haven’t noticed any criticism in the posts of the clinical care delivered,  all the criticism has been in relation to your charges and billing,  which when compared to other practices does seem high. We know vets are business and don't expect treatment for free! But when prices are significantly higher people are going to question it.  This occurs not only on social media,  but in parks up and down the country as dog owners do discuss this.    I agree your analogy that people can choose where to purchase their veterinary care, a bit like where they choose to purchase their groceries ( convenience store versus sainsburys versus Aldi etc). The big difference is with the supermarket chains there is choice.  Sadly what is happening with veterinary practices is a few massive chains have brought up all the previously independent practices,  therefore there isn't any real choice and these chains are monopolising the industry and forcing up prices to shocking levels ( veterinary prices have risen more than any other industry). I welcome the formal investigation of the CMA into veterinary costs.
    • Neither of which are Dulwich private schools though. I also wasn't being entirely serious.
