Rules for Selling Items on East Dulwich Forum

Only goods available for collection in SE22 and surrounding areas of South London may be listed for sale on this forum board.

Goods sold via EDF must be legal, safe, accurately described and fit for purpose.

The following items are not allowed to be sold or given away via the forum:

  • Animals
  • Tobacco
  • Knives and other weapons
  • Adult goods

Ensure your thread title accurately describes what you are selling. Please put the price of the item in the thread title where possible, e.g. "Leather Sofa - £50".

If you have a big list of similar items to sell at once (e.g. a garage sale) then please put them all in one thread. Do not create more than 3 topics per day per account.

Where possible, please attach a photo, or a link to a shop where the item can be purchased. To upload an image, simply click the 'Choose Files' link below the post text area.

All sale transactions must be organised independently between the buyer and seller. The East Dulwich Forum cannot have any involvement in the transaction and therefore will not take responsibility for disputes (e.g. faulty goods or misleading description). However, accusations of fraud are taken seriously - please report any such occurrences to the forum administrator via the Contact Us button at the bottom of the page.

    • In deed, and whatever we think there was great popular support for his more extreme views - feels like history is repeating itself.  However, really interested in the title of the thread.
    • Enock Powell certainly was demonised after making a speech  in 1968. In many ways it was out of character. His was a most interesting character and arguably one of the most highly intelligent person to enter parliament. Powell spoke German, French, Italian, Modern Greek, Hindi and Urdu: plus had a reading knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Welsh. Among classical languages, he knew Ancient Greek, Latin, Hebrew and Aramaic. If, for a moment, one  could set aside any preconceived opinions then one would find his biography absolutely fascinating. Enoch Powell - Wikipedia
    • Why is that shocking? It's a fair enough way to remember how to spell her name. It wasn't an analogy. He wasn't comparing the two people concerned or saying they were alike. And Enoch Powell was indeed infamous.
    • That's all a bit complicated, as well. She was voted in as deputy leader, not deputy Prime Minister, by the party. There's no requirement to have a deputy PM, so she could be sacked by Starmer by simply ending the position I'd imagine  The housing secretary role is down to appointment by Starmer, so he could kick her out of that. I'm not sure that the housing minister, or any minister in fact, has an automatic right to a seat at cabinet. I think it's the attacks she's made on Tories that are her problem here. Mistakes do get made, but she's given little credence to other's 'mistakes' in the past and called for resignations. Let's just hope the enquiry gets published soon. There are a lot more important things to be getting on with.
