Would you like some online schooling support?

Recommended Posts

If you are finding it hard to motivate your child(ren) with home learning, I can help with Zoom learning. I am a primary school teacher, know the curriculum from R to yr 6 and can encourage your children to achieve their potential in fun and interesting ways. Please PM me if interested.

Thank you everyone who has responded. Now we know that schools are closing on Friday, please PM me with your email addresses and ages of your children. I am working tomorrow and Friday, but will be making arrangements to move this forward.

After discussing this with my own children (aged 15 and 18) who will also be off school, I can provide 3 full days of tutoring and childcare per week that school is closed. My suggested days are Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays, operating from 9am til 4pm. However, both days and hours are flexible depending on the mix and family needs.

One of my children will help me on each day which will enable a wider age group or range of activities, which will be planned with me.

I look forward to meeting your children and working with them.

I saw your post and wondered if this would be allowed if childminders aren?t allowed to function as well. Social distancing doesn?t work this way. You would be putting the health of your own family and the students families at risk.

The forum has posted an article about social distancing above. It might be helpful to read this too for parents and anyone thinking about offering childcare services. This is going to be a challenging time for everyone.

I know there are lots of online tutoring groups that are already set up or starting, perhaps that would be the safer option for the students, your family, and the rest of the community.

Thank you Sand12. Although childminders are included in the schools closure, tutors and nannies are not.

The service that I would be providing will be for a few children and will be a mix of tutoring and nannying, so it is not covered. It will also only be for a few days a week.

    • Something doesn't quite smell right here and probably it's not  the chicken. Both the OP and TheWeekEnd specifically mention  chicken thigh fillets. TWE purchased £14 worth of chicken thigh fillets and they were thrown away "probably for the third time". £14 equates to around 12 fillets which is a lot. Could some have been frozen after purchase and then thawed? And thawed properly before cooking? TWE has a total of 4 posts of which 3 are on this thread.
    • Thanks to all for the advice, very glad to have this community for these enquiries. Here is how it got resolved in case its useful for anyone in the future: I had ordered some garden waste bags, and when the Veolia person came around I just asked them, and they were more than happy to take it no questions asked. 🙂
    • I keep seeing a thread 'missing cat', but you've been found.  Not sure if all would consider that a good thing.  Not a lot new happening ....  When you back in Blighty?
    • In March Oli and his team did an excellent job of the following work at a property I manage.  1. Completely removing existing broken front path. Covering and securing the void (coal shute) beneath using concrete lintels, waterproof membrane and concrete. Laying a compacted sub-base and new clay pavers. 2. Removing broken fence. Securely installing 6 fence posts and 5 fence panels across the end of the back garden. Base of posts wrapped in plastic  sheath and set in post mix. 3. Removing broken render from terrace steps and cleaning then re-rendering steps where needed and repairing other parts.  4. Jet washing rear patio. I would like to thoroughly recommend him to you for a job done very well at a fair price.
