  1. I have been reading this thread with interest and appreciating how hard it is to evaluate the unknown. Ultimately, the type of school you choose should be a balance of what your child likes (he/she will be more motivated to do well if they feel good about their school), what you feel most comfortable with (see other threads on here where parents express their disappointment and frustration that the state school they chose is not meeting their high expectations) and what you can comfortably afford (taking into consideration that means the life-style of private school, not just the fees. Other things to consder are whether your children would be happier doing activities outside of school rather than just mixing with their school peers (can be a sanctuary if there are friendship issues in school), and if they would be happier having parents working less hours to have more family time, which is a choice you might be able to make if you choose a state school. It's a lot to consider and I am grateful that my kids are now in university and that their Kingsdale education got them into top unis. Feedback from them now they are part of a cohort comprising state, private and grammar educated students, is that the privately educated ones have a lot more self confidence, more contacts for arranging internships and a better understanding of the rigors of academic work, such as Harvard Referencing. These are all good things to have that have not previously been mentioned.
  2. When other councils are going bankrupt or closing their libraries, swimming pools and other sports facilities, Southwark is maintaining these important services. There have been many moans on this forum about charging cameras, expensive brown bins and CPZs, but if this is what makes the difference between no amenities and excellent amenities, I think Southwark is making good decisions.
  3. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the wonderful Gowlett so far. Very dog friendly and usually a water bowl out for them. Our dog loves going there because it means pizza crusts! It's good to see that a number of shops are dog friendly too as it is no longer safe/acceptable to leave your dog tied up outside. It always feels frustrating when you pass a place where you would like to pick up some bread or milk, yet you have to go home with the dog first. Very surprised at the comment that dogs are not welcome in other countries as I've not seen this anywhere apart from places that have an issue with strays, which is a completely different matter. Dogs paws have walked on exactly the same streets as people's shoes, so why do they present a hygiene issue?
  4. this has been hung in a cupboard for mayve 10 years - sized large - no tears or holes but a little dusty with a couple of dirt marks from its last use skiing a long time ago- I have not laundered it but should be OK for a cold short wash if you wish North face hyvent fabric long jacket in olive green . Internal zipper for interactive fleece atatchment, Unzippable wired hood. double skinned, not a lightweight coat by any means. elasticated coffs, underarm zipper vents . Loads of pockets. drawstrings work great. More quality practical outdoor than the lightweight stuff usually seen. lovely green fabric outer layer rather than cheap nylon. £40 near ED station thanks

  6. used for a RH shoulder dislocation late last year. used but OK https://www.mediuk.co.uk/shop/medi-sas-45-shoulder-support.html near ED Station pickup
  7. Do you mean on the SEND register? Most of the SEND funding has to come from within the school budget but is topped up by the LA.
  8. Could the student accommodation have anything to do with the face that King's Champion Hill halls of residence are having to remain empty because of problems with the Glenfell type cladding?
  9. Hi All, Car broken into by the usual lot overnight. it would seem that some stuff of no real value including a rucksac filled with teachers stuff has gone. If anyone finds teaching type stuff dumped, could you drop us a note ? Appreciate it
  10. I would recommend Hydrosmart. They did a good job for us.
  11. Somebody dropped a lead this morning. I carried it around the park asking everyone with a dog if they'd lost one, but noone had. If it's yours, please PM me to arrange return.
  12. I asked for dog poo bags at Grove Vale library today and was told they have not had any in for months and no other libraries have any either. Has Southwark council stopped supplying them? Huge shame if that's the case for dog owners and non-dog owners alike (more poo not picked up).
  13. Are they still available? We are looking to take a refugeee family to the beach on Saturday and need car seats for the children. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks
  14. My mother in law has just tested positive - on her 80th birthday :(. Boots has also reported test sales rising as we enter yet another phase of the virus. We all need to test if we are feeling under the weather.
  15. What do you charge, Kim? We live near Goose Green and have a well behaved spanial.
  16. The sense of entitlement is in the marque of car.
  17. As noone has come forward, I have now taken the card wallet to East Dulwich station
  18. I found your card wallet on Grove Vale. PM me with a description of the wallet and what's inside and I'll let you know where to collect it.
  19. Have you tried Jags or Alleyns? You do not have to be members to book coached activities
  20. We decided not to renew our brown bin subscription this year, but I can't find a way on the council website to request a bin removal. Am I missing something?
  21. Sounds about right to me. We paid £6k to £7k for our children's oerthadontic treatment 5 to 8 years ago.
  22. This is what you are up against, requesting for an NHS GP to accept a private diagnosis: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-65534449 I am not saying that your son's private assessment is bogus, but the NHS has to put in place one policy fits all because they do not have the resources to investigate individual cases. Keep pushing for CAMHS and get your child's SENDCO to do the same. Good luck!
  23. Hayes Grove and Besant place are both less than 20 years old. There are also mews houses on the site of the old working men's club off Lordship Lane. And there are mews houses off Oglander.
  24. Preparations from the vets on prescription are the only things that work. The shop bought stuff does nothing. Also flea bomb your house.
