messageMet Police Section 60 notice until 18.40 9 October
Posted by James Barber October 08, 10:06PM

Due to an earlier incident this evening in the Peckham area, and to prevent further violence, a Section 60 has been authorised by a senior Police officer covering SE21, SE22, SE5 and SE15. This will last 24 hours expiring at 18.40 tomorrow Friday 09 October.

What does this mean?
The Police can stop and search anyone in these designated areas / postcodes.

Is this to do with Gowlett Road being cordoned off?

Yes. This is from today's police briefing note:
At six o'clock on Thursday, October 8th, 2020, we were called to a moped rider firing a
handgun in Gowlett Road, SE15.

Local and specialist firearms officers responded. There are no reported injuries, but the
attending officers found evidence of a firearm discharge. A crime scene is in place while
detectives begin their investigation.

Does this apply to children, or is it 18 plus? If including kids, do they have the right to a parent/carer being present?

Oh gosh!

As a new resident to the area, may i ask if this kind of thing happens quite frequently around here?

I might have to consider sending my kids to a private school further out if thats the case.

Not in my view - It's quieter now than it used to be 10 years ago (but that could be me).
